How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

i arrived quite late but there was no problem with checking in. The location is really close to the city center and it's easy to find.

Although nostalgy is nice, some things were a little too worn out for my taste. Our room floor had stains, the bathroom and toilet smelled bad, toilet room was not in a good condition. The bed wasn't too comfy. But everyhting worked, so none of it was a huge issue, especially if you're staying only for a few days.
The location is really good, whether you travel by car or by bus. Train station is a little further away but city bus stops are close. Centre and beautiful old town are within walking distance. There's plenty of space for parking behind the building. While we were there you could just drive to the lot. The flat was clean, there were enough dishes and towels. I also loved the nostalgy as I lived there as a student many years ago and not that much is changed.

Room qualities vary. Some room do need renovation as there are sings of wear and poor use. Some rooms are nice. Otherwise all rooms are clean and good for the price point and location.

Drunken alcoholic neighbors... disgusting behavior from some late arrivals. They should not be allowed access when in such awful condition..

The smell in the kitchen area due to cheap cleaning products can be nauseating!

Could’ve been cleaner. Walls were thin and even a needle drop could’ve been heard from the other rooms. Celling leaked light from neigbouring room. The celling light was also making noise during the night due to probably being installed incorrectly. Definitely bring ear drops.
For what you pay for it is a great place. We stayed for one night and it is great for that, maybe even two nights. Beds were comfy and plenty amenities for the price.

There was a situation during this visit that I found unpleasent. Unfortunately, one of the guests with whom I was sharing the appartment left a dirty diaper in the bathroom sink, and there was also fecal matter in the shower. While I understand that this is not a fault of the host, when I went to the reception to call their attention to what was happening and asking for cleaning, the person at the reception informed me that the cleaning person would not be arriving until the next morning (this I would accept and understand), but also proceeded to suggest that I should "clean it myself", even though I made it clear that it was not me but another host that created the situation. I can't help but think that a hostel proposing one of their guests to clean another guest's fecal matter from a common shower is unpleasant. Also, because of that situation, I had to count on another person's good will to allow me to use their shower in a different appartment, as I could not wait until the following morning to have a shower. Unfortunately, and even though I like this hostel, I have to write this review.
I have been hosted by this place several times, as it is very well located (just a 2-3 minutes walk from the main square), it is cheap compared to other options of the same level, and thus it is great for short stays.

Sometimes you coud hear the noise from other rooms.
The hostel is very well located in the city center just a five minutes walk from the main square. The check-in was easy and the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and confortable, perfect for short stays in Tartu.

Spartan conditions, white walls, industrial light and a bed. I was bitten by bedbugs, so the mattresses need replacing.

There could be a little more appliances in the kitchen. A microwave would have been great.
It was a room in a student residence in a very big house with many floors and never-ending corridors. It was ok for one or two nights, The room was clean, linen fresh and the shower was big and worked well. Kitchen had a few items, a hot water boiler and a fridge. Cosy it wasn't but then again, we were not expecting that. And the price was good.

Great place to sleep on a business trip or short city visit. The hostel is also a student dormitory, so facilities are the same: basic, but everything necessary is provided.

There are three rooms inside one block and they are not soundproof at all. Your sleep is easily disturbed if you are not very lucky with the neighbours. You can literally hear someone else’s breath next door. The kitchen has just some basic stuff. There is no microwave that would make traveller’s life so much easier. Also, cleanliness standards could have been higher. The walls, floor and surfaces in some areas are damaged and dirty. You can tell this place have seen its better days. You literally get what you pay for.
Location is great! The rooms are warm and well ventilated. Beds are simple but comfortable. The best value! Perfect for a group of 6 friends so you can privately occupy a block of three rooms.
