There weren't any day curtain, so it was a bit strange to change close next to the window.

Room was clean and spacious, close to the city center. Possible to storage your food and drinks in your own fridge.

I wish more hotels were like this, simply put. Free washing machine? Free gym? Simple and clean rooms? That's amazing.

The hotel allows pets, but the metal stair-lattice from the parking lot is not dog-friendly. Dogs must be picked up or walked around the main entrance. Unfortunately the cafe, sauna and gym did not work, which was not warned in advance, which could affect the choice of the hotel.

It's a no contact hostel, so feels a bit weird when entering, but knew that in advance. Shower didn't have working hot water, but this was likely only our room. Didn't report at the time due to the lack of staff, and only discovering in the morning (staying one night). The rooms don't have an additional deadlock, so are reliant on the keypad locks. Felt kind of secure, just me being paranoid didn't feel the most secure (so keep in mind if you tend to worry about those things).

Easy to check-in (but did receive multiple codes, but I suspect they would all work). Ended up in an accessible room, which I'm guessing is bigger than average, so it was a spacious room. Bathrooms are wet rooms (I'm personally not a massive fan of that, but it works absolutely fine). Check-out was fine - did online, and nice and straightforward. Nice location, near train station.

There was some standing air smell in bathroom in room 118.

Self-check in was quick and easy. Num pads need some gentle handling but once you get used to that you are safe. Location and parking are superb. Walking distance away are restaurants and shops. 10 min walk to centre of the city. Rooms are clean and nice, all is there for the nice sleep over. Public seating area and gym are well equipped and very nice.

The cleanliness was what I liked the most. The balcony was a nice bonus. I really liked that I had a mini fridge in the room and enough plugs and sockets. The bathroom cleanliness is really important to me and it was super!

The WiFi signal could have been better.

A minimalist hostel in what looks like a former industrial building: just a clean room – long and narrow but high, so one didn't feel claustrophobic – with a bed, a proper table for working, a fridge and some utensils for eating your own food (there's also a kitchen for cooking, but I didn't use it), a bathroom (toilet and shower) and even a balcony (to a parking lot, and not very inviting at this time of year). No personnel in sight: checkin and checkout via internet, instead of keys just a PIN code. No breakfast but a nice café in the neighbouring building (unfortunately, only open from 9 o'clock on). A small gym in the basement. Very peaceful: if you need just a nice clean room for sleeping and working, this is great value for your money. Also: on one evening there was a friendly black cat greeting the guests in the lobby.

On the downside the reception and restaurant were gone, so in the morning I had to walk all the way into the center of town to buy something to eat, also I was not happy with only having a number in order to enter the building, what if my phone went dead or if I were to loose the number for the keypad ? There was no-one around to solve any problems. The room was a little bit hot so it was hard to sleep. Some days before this in Tallinn I stayed in a place that was about ten euro less even though they had a 24 hour reception and breakfast next morning. For these reasons I won't stay there if I am in Tartu again.

I had stayed at the Hektor hostel before and found the room very good and the same as before. The location is quite good as it is within walking distance of the train station and the center of town.

We checked-out from the room at 9 am, had a breakfast in a nearby cafe and were not able to access the hostel's parking lot at 11 am to pick up our car. Consider extending the access to the parking lot until 12 am.
