Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

EstoniaToo many automated e-mails from Hektor hotel. I think I've received over 10 altogether. It would be better to get one, maximum two e-mails with all the necessary information.
Great stay. Beds were very comfortable (just right, not too soft and not too hard), cozy blanket. Modern design of the rooms. Neat and clean. Great free parking. Close to everything.

EstoniaThe bathroom. Very small sink, shower made the whole floor wet, very uncomfortable. For 70 euros one would expect a bit more. But, this was the only inconvenience so overall the stay was nice.
It was a spacious room, comfy beds. Good location right next to Aparaaditehas with hip restaurants etc. Very easy contactless check-in and check-out. Nice design of the room, books on the shelf. There was a fridge and a kettle etc.

EstoniaI have stayed in Hektor every summer since they opened (except the Covid years) and I have enjoyed it every single time. This time I was with my toddler and it was as comfortable as ever. The room is clean and spacious. The building is quiet. The laundry room services are free of charge and available 24/7. Check-in and check-out is contact free, very convenient, no waiting in queues. Aparaat cultural village is just across the street with plenty of cafes and restaurants, and sandboxes, water puddles for kids. I highly recommend Hektor hostel to other visitors.

EstoniaThe ventilation system was noisy (eg not perhaps suitable for a light sleeper) and sadly the bed was not comfortable enough for a good night's snooze. I briefly visited the communal kitchen of the hostel - it was very messy.
The location is great; it's easy to check in and out online; fuss free access with a door code. The single room was spacious, had a large balcony and a fridge/freezer was certainly a welcome surprise on a hot summer day!

AustriaThe communal kitchen, even though it say everywhere to keep it clean and tidy, was a bit of a mess - not blaming it on Hektor's, maybe I just had bad luck with the crowd that was staying there at the same time (there was also quite a noise in the hallway with people running around during the night... Maybe they had a late night snack and didn't clean up after themselves?).
Location is awesome, everybody I randomly met from the staff was super nice an helpful.

FinlandThe cleanliness is under question, but the most essential parts (bed linen etc.) were fine. Also, when staying on the first floor, be careful when open windows: we got an unexpected fluffy visitor in the middle of the night and got quite scared 😅 Apparently, that is just a friendly local cat, but be aware.
The design of the hostel is great! Also, the location is nice, not far from the train station and very close to amazing food places. No keys needed - definitely like 👍

Estonia- Very poor sound isolation and strong noise from the road that doesn't allow a good night's sleep - The tile joint in the bathroom looked dirty and worn out - The ventilation over the oven didn't likely have a check valve, so there was also more wind noise and ventilation sounds blowing back into the room - You receive emails to fill your details for checking in and checking out, but the buttons and links in those emails do not even work - The cleanliness of the room was questionable - Beds are also worn out
- Good parking arrangement - Modern design and style - Good location next to Aparaaditehas

EstoniaThe door doesn't block much sound from outside, you will hear people coming and going. Bed and pillow were hard. Cold air blew in from the ventilation hole in the wall, bad airflow direction design. The yellow plastic chairs are very uncomfortable. There was tea (thank you) but no coffee. For the same price you can get a nice cozy studio apartment with a stove to cook, storage space for your coats and clothes, etc etc. This was a basic ascetic room with a fridge and microwave. I didn't hate it, it was fine, but price/comfort/facilities relationship wasn't good. The wifi can be a little temperamental, and your ship is cordoned off from the high seas.
The location is great, there are restaurants and a supermarket very close and the city centre is a 15-minute walk away. The train station is right there as well. The room clean and well-maintained.

United KingdomWhere possible, Hector push all the work of reception onto the customer and for their convenience don't have card keys or automated recognition for their entirely unstaffed entrance process. For this, I received at least 6 emails from them. One of which contained the 6-figure code I had to use 3 times every time I wanted to get into my room. In all this useless communication, I wasn't told whether my booking included breakfast or anything else I might have found useful. Furthermore, all the communications were couched in a way that they were doing me a favour. 'We all hate having book in to reception' etc. Well, I certainly don't hate it more than trawling through emails to find a door code which I have keep retrieving everytime I need to get in the room. Also, I'd like to ask someone whether I can get breakfast. I have no objection to automation but I expect it to work to my benefit as well as increase the profits of the operator.
The shower was OK.
