How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Very basic hostel, small room. A bit noisy because the window is almost on street level. Small kitchen, but with utensils and dishes. Good for a short stay with basic needs covered.
Great location, easy to get to the bus station and old town. Compact and cozy.

The place could have been cleaner. Our room looked like it wasn't cleaned before we came. There was hair and crumbles on the floor. We could live with that, but we weren't sure if our sheets has been changed because of the little smell of sweat. I didn't have high expectations because of the price, but I think clean sheets is a minimum for any price. We didn't have a possibility to complain about it, because it was already late and the hostess left the building as soon as we come. We did sleep well and there was quiet at night, but the walls are very thin. You may want to take earplugs with you in case of loud room neighbours and construction behind the window.
The hostel is located near to old city so the price is very cheap. If you are a budjet traveller this is a good option. Nothing special, nothing cozy, just a place to sleep. Late check-in went well even though our bus was late. The hostess was friendly. Shared kitchen was okey equipped and there was enough warm water for shower. Shared bathrooms were cleaner than I expected after reading earlier reviews and hand soap was now available, but hand paper not.

Windows curtains really dirty :-/
Very close to city center of Tallinn, everything u may need around. Private parking place for 5 euro. Ok for sleeping over.

There wasnt wardrobe in room
It was great historical wood buildings around and hostel itself was nice buildings ( better fassade than exterior, but for that price didnt expect anything). Wooden buildings around even better than un Kalamaja

overall property
The location was convenient, being close to my destination. However, aside from the accessibility, I wouldn't recommend the place due to cleanliness issues. While the room was cozy, the bed was very uncomfortable. If they considered renovations, particularly replacing the beds and updating other facilities, it would be ideal for budget travelers.

Someone was in our room before we arrived. Yet the staff changed the room to a clean one and other tgan that no concerns.

The room itself was alright but the bedsheets and pillow felt like they hadnt been washed for a while and we found alot of hair in the bed which was a bit nasty.
I liked that it wasnt too far away from the city center and it was close to some breakfast places. The price was good and the check in was super easy.

Only one shower makes it a bit tough but if you switch up your shower schedule to just do it in the morning then it's fine i guess.
Not great, not terrible, but amazing value for money. Will be staying again soon.

The bussing sound of air ventilation during the night-makes impossible to sleep. If youre going to stay there- YOU HAVE TO bring ear buds or go sleeping very drunk
How close youre are to the city center-10-15 min walk and youre there, Also close to Caffeine the coffe shop and Lido where you can get phenomenal food for good prices
