Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOn check in we were given a bill to pay despite already having paid in full via booking.com. we refused and we're finally checked in after much debate. The rooms were spacious but had only received a basic clean and although the maid came each day she appeared to tidy more than clean anything. Venturing out of the hotel was doable but the area was run down and there are building works immediately in front which had a negative effect on traffic and taxis. Throughout our stay lots of outside noise from neighbouring buildings which went on until 4am most nights.
A nice old character building full of charm with large spacious rooms and close to the pyramids . Great sized bed and bathroom in the deluxe rooms. There was a good selection of restaurants and a cosy bar to relax in during the evening. . We took the half board option and the buffet had plenty of variety and was good value for money . The staff on the whole were friendly and helpful.

AustraliaShowers were exciting, alternating between too hold or too cold as you shower. Run of the mill room. Had to ask for room service menu or connection to internet. Internet is definitely not hi speed. Asked for extra coffee sat jets which never came.

IndiaOn the day of arrival, AC wasn't working. Reception phone, noone attended the call at anytime. Evening or morning..my wife needed one bandaid but receptionist said that first aid kit wasn't there in the hotel ..surprised that a hotel like Barcelo didn't have a kit.
Large, spacious room, good linen, excellent breakfast and attentive service staff in restaurant.

MexicoThe location, at this moment right in front of the hotel a construction of a metro station is ongoing so reaching the hotel requires more time as many streets are cut. The neighborhood where the hotel is located is not the best and lacks options to go for something to eat or drink; options at the hotel are quite expensive. During our stay we experienced some issues with the door of the room and safety box, however the staff helped us as soon as possible to fix them.
The staff at the hotel is great, always helping and trying to make a comfortable stay.

South AfricaThe presentation of the packed breakfast was just atrocious. Sandwich and bakery items were packed in a polystyrene tray covered in plastic wrap. The sandwich was so sad. Literally just bread and a piece of chicken. So sauces or salad in the sandwich.
Good location. Close to restaurants, pharmacy and shops. Taxis are readily available outside the hotel. Close to giza pyramids. Very accommodating, they allowed us early check in at no extra cost.

CanadaPrices were a bit high considering the quality. The area is a bit sketchy, it's def not safe to walk around at night or even during the day if your not with a friend or group. Also they were short staff quite a bit.
The facility is really nice and clean. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. Nice pool and location is somewhat close to the pyramids

United Kingdomits in a dreadful area - not for walking around on your own b ut good if you have activities planned the spa was very disorganised despite only having me as a customer. The woman had no record of my appointment. She put the 2 saunas on as I was about to get in which left me naked and cold in both despite the fact she was there at 10 when my appointment was at 11. They need to sort this out. I booked a suite and discovered I was put in a room with no windows as it was internal. £120 a night and immediately started to experience claustrophobia very badly. They tried to offer me other room but they were each bad for what I was expecting at the price I had paid. The next day they moved me into a lovely suite.
exceptionally clean very good quality food at buffet breakfast and dinner on level 1 same above for the ground floor cafe nice bars and italian restaurant on site roof bar where you can just about the see the top of the pyramids almost always empty swimming pool very organised despite it being almost full for the week I was there I was allowed to use the conference room for my zoom work when the wifi was bad in the room business office to use computers it has a gym, spa and hair salon They changed my room without question after a day

AustraliaPoor internet access. None in the rooms. Cash machine did not work. Aircon needed to be fixed while we were in the room. Front desk staff told me the room was going to be ready and I should wait. 2 hours passed, the room was not ready. Please tell the truth. It is easier to bear than telling people what you think they want to know.

PortugalThe hotel is ok but doesn’t meet the criteria of a 4 stars hotel. It’s quite expensive for what you actually get. The lights went out a few times: first time we were waiting for the lift and it turned off and then during the night, turning off the AC, so the room would get very warm and I had to get up to turn it on… The internet is very slow and sometimes stops working. I have to say this hotel was quite disappointing special coming from a full week at Al Masa Hotel and Spa (also 4 stars and cheaper, that hotel was just incredible). I wanted an hotel closer to the pyramids for the weekend but if it was now I would have stayed at Al Masa (40min ride to the pyramids). Half a day would have been enough to go to the pyramids, visit and come back.
This hotel is 15 min away, by car, from the entrance to visit the pyramids.

United KingdomWhen booking the hotel i booked a room with twin beds. We were given a room with a double bed and the AC was leaking. There was water in the room when we woke up. The rooms were exchanged the following day however we had an issue with the toilet and this was reported to reception. Someone was sent to address the issue, however it wasn't resolved and we couldn't use the toilet during the stay. We had to use the toilet in the 2nd room we had booked. This made the stay uncomfortable
