Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOn the beds there’s only a bedsheet with pillow and blankets in the wardrobe. No extra bedsheets to cover yourself with. We asked for those and they were immediately provided.
Clean hotel in great location. Other reviewers already pointed out the fact that to get there you’ll need to go through gritty little side street and three flights of stairs with broken lift. It is a mild inconvenience for the good value you are getting. Picture of the side street you need to turn into attached, hope that helps. On the way there you might encounter little cats, we thought it only added to the charm. This old building has a lot of character. Staff at the hotel are friendly and polite and the location is unbeatable.

United KingdomI am just going to repeat what many others have said But do not let anything I say put you off staying here. The little side road the entrance is situated on is really grotty, and there are usually a number of scruffy workmen hanging around in front of the hotel. The actual entrance is equally dirty and off-putting. You turn left before a broken lift and have to walk up three flights of stairs. These are also dirty, litter- strewn, and you will probably see flea infested cats. On the two floors you pass you will come across men who are working in the other "units" within the building However......it is actually all perfectly safe and when you get to the hotel you will be amazed at how lovely the hotel is.
Outstanding location at the centre of Downtown Cairo. It is a clean, modern and very authentically Egyptian hotel. The staff are lovely and there is a good standard of English spoken which means communication is easy. Definitely stay here if you can....and don't be put off by what you read about the entrance to the hotel......most comments are accurate and fair but don't be put off...... it's a great place to stay

YemenI recently stayed at the Gresham Hotel with my family and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located in the downtown area, making it a convenient base for exploring the city. Additionally, the hotel offers excellent value for money, with very reasonable prices for the high-quality room and service. I would like to give a special thank you to staff members Islam and Husam, who both provided exceptional service during our stay. Islam helped us carry our luggage and was incredibly responsive to our needs, while Husam was supportive and friendly in helping us find a room that suited our budget and offered help whenever needed. Overall, I highly recommend the Gresham Hotel for families looking for a convenient location, excellent value for money, comfortable rooms, and outstanding service. Thank you to the entire team, especially Islam and Husam, for making our stay so memorable!

GermanyWe had a problem with the first room that we booked because it was kinda smelling and the wifi connection was not that good. So, firstly, we booked the room with a shared bathroom. The bathroom did not have any toiletries either. So, we upgraded to the private bathroom room. There were also no toiletries and wifi connection was really bad. The wifi was working only in the lobby, which was kinda disappointing. We could not even send messages over WhatsApp and I am not talking about posting anything. Only in the morning, it worked somehow better but after 8 am, it became again weaker. Additionally, the room was not that clean and the floor was full of dust, I do not know whether it was because we upgraded that night and there was no time to clean or because of the dust outside but it was not a nice feeling for sure. Another thing I was surprised about was that we had to go downstairs and ask for toilet papers and towels. There was nothing to hang from the door for the room cleaning so, we did not change the sheets until we left. I guess, we also needed to go the desk and ask for that. Another thing was about the location of the hotel. It was really hard to find the location, even our taxi driver did not find it so, it took us some time to find it. It would be really nice if there is a description of the hotel posted or emailed to us. Since on the map, it is not easy to understand where to go, especially, when you are driving with a taxi. The location is very noisy if you do not like the noise at all and there are lots of stairs to get to the hotel if that is also a problem for anyone. It was not a problem for me but my friend had problems in sleeping because of the car noises. Every single car in Cairo signals. We closed the balcony doors, it was much better. Overall, we had a nice experience because the huge concern for us was safety and the hotel is very safe.
I really liked the staff. They were very friendly and always there when we needed help. We needed to upgrade our room and we were able to do it the first night. Additionally, we visited Egypt during Ramadan, we got free cake slices from the staff, which very hospitable and kind. The upgraded room was pretty huge, had a private bathroom, and was kinda less noisy than the first one we booked. The location was not that central; however, we took a metro (which was pretty safe, it has even women's section) or Uber, which was pretty cheap. The Egyptian Museum and Cairo Tower are walking distance, the only problem can be crossing the roads, which is kinda chaotic in Cairo. In addition, there were lots of stores nearby and you can buy Egyptian style or decorated clothes. When we were checking out, the entrance door downstairs was closed but I do not think that is something related to the hotel itself. The staff was there, so, he opened the door for us and walked with us to the taxi, which was very kind as well. It is also one of the affordable hotels in Cairo so if you wanna save money, that is the great option. I see some people complaining about the entrance, which I agree but I also understand that it is not something related to the hotel. Some people downstairs were annoying and saying something towards us because we were 2 young women; however, once you enter the hotel, it is the whole another world. Also the rooms are one stair up from the entrance of the hotel and the door is closed at night, it is pretty safe. Overall, did not have any concerns with regard to safety.
