Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaAjwa Guesthouse is a small, very new guesthouse. The air conditioning and water heater are excellent and the room was very clean. There is no sign on the guesthouse but it is next door to the Nile View Guesthouse and they are run by the same family, so study the photo of the Ajwa Guesthouse and if no one is there when you arrive, just go next door to the Nile View and someone will help you. You can also arrange for the host to pick you up if you have whatsapp. Guests at Ajwa can eat at the waterside restaurant and patio at the Nile View, which is where the photos are taken. The atmosphere is very laid back with no hassle. It is a lovely, relaxing place to stay.

United KingdomNothing.
The best spot for sunset on the island!!! The Nubian breakfasts were excellent and filled you up until dinner time. No traffic, no cars. The west side of the island is away from all the noise and hassle that you get on the East bank of main Aswan. The Nubian people are all friendly without trying to extract money from you all the time. We love it here.

I had an amazing stay here! The guest house is modern and clean. The room was spacious. Delicious breakfast, which could be packed as well when leaving early. Awesome on-site restaurant as well. Nice views from the quiet Elephantine Island. They can organise tours. I would definitely stay here again.

United KingdomThe location is superb on the quiet side of Elephantine island, with stunning views. The staff were all friendly and helpful. It was possible to rent kayaks and Felluca. The water was clean enough to swim in. Only a short walk across the island to the public ferry.

IrelandAjwa Guest house is situated on the west bank of the Nile, and the view from the terrace is stunning. This is a family run guesthouse, and it gives a feeling of home. The food is exceptional and the best on the island. My room was very comfortable with a view of the Nile.

United StatesThe place is part of a small cluster of buildings with a total of ten rooms, a shared staffed kitchen, a pleasant plaza with an amazing view of the West Bank of the Nile, and a lovely elevated deck for sitting. You look directly across to the Monastery of St. Sim'an or Anba Hedra and to the Mausoleum of the third Agha Khan. The guesthouse is only an eight-minute walk at my pace (a little quick) across the island from the ferry, and about half an hour from the central market (again, I walk fast). It's about the same distance from the Nubia Museum. However, despite being so close to central Aswan, the western side of the island is peaceful and relaxing. All day long you can watch herons, egrets, and kingfishers on the water, with moorhens in the twilight hours and the occasional hawk. Hoopoes and bee-eaters are common on the surrounding paths. The staff is an extended family. They create a welcoming environment, are helpful with practical everything, and enjoy getting to know guests. The kitchen prepares fresh food, sourcing much of its ingredients from the island, including from the guesthouse's own herb garden. Rooms are spacious, well-equipped, and kept up well. The place is absolutely fantastic—I couldn't ask for better.

United StatesIt’s good to be prepared with some mosquito repellent (available at local pharmacies in the city) for those evenings when the little pests decide to show up.
Situated on the far side of Elephantine Island, Ajwa Guest House has an exceptional view at any hour of the day. The easiest arrangement for arrival is to be met on the mainland by a boat from the guest house. For the rest of their stays, guests learn to use the local ferry, a fun experience. The included breakfasts are tasty and generous; other meals are fairly priced and delicious. Ahmed and all his kind family clearly work hard to make guests feel very welcome throughout their visits. They even grow their own herbs and harvest their own hibiscus buds for tea.

United KingdomWe stayed here three nights and didn’t want to leave. Staff treated us like family from the start and were very helpful in organising what to do in Aswan. They even helped us get to the mainland for our 4am excursion pick up. We ate at the restaurant every night and it was great, lots of choice. Rooms were comfortable, great location on the island around 10 walking distance from the public ferry and local attractions. The view from the restaurant was spectacular, especially at sunset. We had laundry done here and it was done very quickly which was very helpful.

ItalyThe bathroom has no roof, so if you are travelling with someone you don’t know very well, you’d better book two separate rooms.
Ahmed, Mohammed, Bijo and the rest of the family run the guest house with the best intention and kindness. This place is just next to Nile View Guest House, where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and even dinner in front of a wonderful sunset.

FranceSuch a nice stay at Ajwa guesthouse ! The place is managed by Ahmed, who also manage the Nile View next door. All the staff is so nice, the room was large, clean, with private bathroom and a nice view on the nile. The breakfast is soo good and you have access to the restaurant of Nile view + you can rent a kayak to go on the water (which I really recommend!). This side of the island is so quiet and Ahmed know so many things (he even organised a trip 1 day 1 night on a felouque for me). For me, best place to stay in Assouan :)

Great location on Elephantine Island away from all the hustle and bustle. Gorgeous sunsets over the Nile. The staff were great, but Ahmed was especially excellent- picking me up from the station when I arrived, and arranging tours and taxis to the airport. The food in the restaurant was excellent, especially the chicken tajine and mango juice 👌🏼 It got a little chilly at night (January) but the room was well stocked with extra blankets. The hot shower was always reliably hot too, which was great. All round fantastic time here. Nice and relaxing

CanadaThere are power outages all over Egypt almost everyday, sometimes planned sometimes not planned. It’s just a part of life here, and often last about and hour. So no fault with Nile View Guest House, just something to be ready for when your traveling around Egypt.
My husband and I stayed at the Nile View Guest house just before Christmas. We had a wonderful time! It was truly a peaceful oasis on the westside of Elephantine Island with an incredible location right on the edge of The Nile. A huge highlight for us was Ahmed and his family, they took such good care of us and were so warm and welcoming. Ahmed arranged a taxi ride from the airport for us and then picked us up on the East Bank by private boat and brought us directly to his property. The rooms were simple and very clean (exactly as pictured). There is also a restaurant on site, we had dinner there one night and the food was excellent, really fresh ingredients, very flavorful and good prices. If you want to tour around the island there are other restaurants and cafes in close proximity and the public ferry is about a 10 min walk. The included breakfast was superb and there was nothing like sitting on the edge of The Nile and sipping our morning coffee. We can’t recommended it enough and hope to go back at some point. Thank you again Ahmed!

United KingdomWhile the room was exceptionally clean, we did experience some bites during our stay. It's likely they were from spiders, although we can't be certain. Just wanted to bring it to your attention for awareness. Despite this, we still appreciated the overall cleanliness of the room.
The staff at the guest house was absolutely amazing! They went above and beyond by picking us up from the train station and providing a complimentary motorboat ride to the guest house. The included breakfast was a highlight of our entire Egyptian trip – truly one of the best. The breathtaking view of the Nile and dunes added to the charm of this cute and peaceful stop on our journey through the country. Highly recommended!

AustriaI had to leave.
Ahmed and his family, in particular his uncle Faris and also his cousin Mohamed provided an extremely friendly welcome for me at their Guest House. To every inquiry I made about Assuan they had excellent suggestions and spared no effort to care for all my wishes. The food was great and of you need a boat directly from their place to Assuan they were happy to provide it, if during the day or even at 4 in the morning for the trip to Abu Simbel. Sitting at breakfast or dinner table with the view on the Nile is particularly idyllic. Thank you Ahmed and Faris. I would be happy to come back to stay at your place once more.
