Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Egyptthe reception staff attitudes did not impress me. they had no smile and it felt as if I was bothering them. the restaurant staff also were not so friendly during dinner time. the price of the transport from the hotel to pyramids is 40 dollars. that’s is very expensive. the tour guide is 50. plus you must pay to go inside. it works out to 100 dollars for a tour almost. that lasts 3 hours. but if you go alone and do everything ur self the Uber is 2 dollars and the entrance is 10 dollars. that’s 12 dollars for a tour alone and you can stay the whole day if you want……with out the hotel tourist package. that is 10 times less. also all the hotels INFRONT of the pyramids are charging 20 dollars a night for very nice rooms. right right right INFRONT on the pyramids the hotel should maybe lower the price per night coz outside is very much roadworks and obstacles and it is not so nice to walk to pyramids from hotel location. can be dangerous.
the view is fantastic. and the facility is great. good bar and alcohol choice for Egypt. and good floors and good everything about the building. it’s beautiful inside and very clean. the porters and bellboys bagmen are the friendliest of the staff members. morning shift staff are friendly. the dinner and breakfast selections are really amazing. big props to the kitchen staff.

IrelandThe condition of the room for the price paid was not good. We got moved because the shower overflowed, the light fixtures in the bathroom were full of dust, the carpet was grubby as well as the lamp shades being completely lopsided and furniture all crooked. The coffee machine was also broken. Attention to detail did not exist in this hotel. The reception also had electronic air fresheners which were very overpowering and the breakfast /dinner restaurant was adjacent to the lobby so the smell wafted right through and made the dining experience less enjoyable. The staff's English was on average poor, so when you try to communicate the issues they couldn't understand until we eventually got to see the manager. The only downside to breakfast was that there was nobody on the cooking station at 4am so there was no form of eggs available. So sources of protein was minimal at that hour.
The location had a great view of the pyramids and right across the road from the new Grand Museum, although this isn't open yet. The breakfast was buffet style. The food was all very fresh. The times for breakfast were excellent, 4am to 10.30. Security at the gate appeared to be good. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly. The manager did try to assist us on the issues.

United StatesOutstanding hotel. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were exceedingly friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very good with nice choices including made to order omelets. The location was very good for visiting the pyramids, not so great if you plan to make this a base for going in to downtown Cairo. The new Grand Egyptian Museum is across the road, which will make the location a bonus once that officially opens, hopefully some time in 2023.

United KingdomWell, nothing.
What I liked about the hotel was that the staff were welcoming and polite. If you had a problem all you had to do was go to reception and they would help you if they can there and then or send the appropriate person to look at the problem. Also the room was excellent with a bath and shower, the room was clean and the bed was comfy. I had booked a museum view and it was good. The location was fine, my tour guides and their drives found their way and overall a very excellent overall experience.

EgyptThe only negative comment I have is related to the hotel taxi service. Due to the roadworks in front of the hotel, it's not possible to flag a normal taxi. We wanted to go to a local supermarket, which was only a 5 minute drive from the hotel; however, the taxi desk manager quoted $15 one way (which actually only cost the equivalent of $1 in an Uber). When I questioned the high price (I live in Cairo and know $15 is outrageous for the short distance), he was very dismissive. I understand hotel car services are always more expensive than taxis, but quoting $30 for a trip to and from the supermarket is wrong and a way of taking advantage of tourists.
This hotel is perfectly situated for those visiting the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The rooms are very spacious, clean and the rain shower in the bathroom was amazing. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating to our request of moving us to a room which had both a pyramid and pool view - it was the perfect place to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks which the hotel put on, as well as the fireworks close to the pyramids. The breakfast and dinner buffets were also extremely good with a nice variety of dishes to choose from.

United StatesIt is very shabby. Out of date and not well cared for, the staff is nice.. but the rooms are not great or well maintained.. I am sad that the steigenberger has let this place get so run down. Spend some money !! All of the hotels in Egypt had a chance to get things up to date and renovated during covid . And no corporations wanted to spend the money.. the location is great . But that's about it
The hotel is close to the pyramids. Period. The end

BelgiumSafety deposit box did not work in any of the rooms. They did not fix them either so we had to drag all our documents with us to the pyramids. We paid extra for the pyramid view which was actually a view of construction site with building cranes and pyramids in the background. This is not hotel's fault but should be mentioned in the description. The reception staff did not give us any info and seemed afraid of the excursion desk team which only wants to rip off the hotel guests. You are ready to pay extra for services in 5 stars hotels but what's exaggerated is exaggerated. They charge not 3 but 10x more for the ride to the pyramids and require you to pay in cash in a 5 star hotel. Their driver was nice but didn't even speak English and we were not informed that he was supposed to be driving us around the site. Not a problem for us but still. They could easily have a shuttle to the pyramids at least 3x a day. That's why people come there. The reception staff would not even call us an official taxi so next day the bell boy called us one from outside the hotel still more expensive than the normal one but acceptable. Just use Uber. When we arranged a private transfer on the last day from outside the hotel the excursion/taxi clerk wanted to convince our driver to charge us more than we agreed on. We travel a lot and have been in several hotels in Egypt and this was by far the worst. We are never booking a Steigenberger hotel again.
Spacious rooms. Food was good. Fruits in the room.
