How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

nothing really.
Super friendly and helpful stuff, nice breakfast and adorable kittens made the stay at Tahrir Square Hostel a very pleasant and happy experience and one of the highlights of our families stay in Egypt. Location is literally right at the main square, so many places are easy to visit from here.

Big busy road in front

Noisy because of the car horns, make sure to bring earplugs with you (maybe the staff can give, I didn't ask)
Very nice staff, perfect location with view to tahrir square. Good breakfast.

I wish I could have stayed longer :-(
A perfect location in the centre of Cairo. The staff is super friendly, helpful, kind and sweet. Especially Noura, it is very hard not to love her immediately. The rooms were clean, breakfast was ready within 5-10 minutes upon waking up. It was a great experience staying there. Thank you

I enjoyed everything.
The location is excellent and the staff were great and always ready to help - I even got help getting an Uber to the airport which saved me a lot of money. I stayed in a dormitory and the rooms are very well planned. The beds have privacy curtains and independent lights and power sockets for each bed. The upper bunks are accessed by a little set of stairs at the end of the bed which is the first time I've seen this. The breakfast is also good.

The window did not close properly but this was not a big issue for us'
The Tahrir Square hostel is centrally located, super friendly and offers good comfort. Staff was very kind and helpful. Bathrooms were clean and available most of the time. The room was spacious, bedding was perfect. Breakfast was served in a little cosy space that allowed us to talk to other travelers. Quality of breakfast was excellent. Value for money was great too! We highly recommend this hostel to any travelers.

like everywhere else in Egypt, the dorm was a bit noisy being right on the square.
I love the location, couldn’t be better. the staff are so,lovely and helpful, breakfast was nice, tea and coffee available.

Nothing. Maybe the wifi conection could be a little bit better, but its similar all over egypt.
The staff is amazing. Especially Noura, she is sooo lovely and also very helpful. With her smiles and her advices she makes the stay in cairo perfect. Aditionally of course the cleaning was always on point thanks to Donia. Thank you! And the location is very central. You can see the famous tahrir square thgough the balcony. So much history.

यह एक शानदार छात्रावास है! कर्मचारी बहुत अच्छे हैं और जगह बहुत साफ है। यह विशेष रूप से सस्ती कीमत के लिए बहुत अच्छा मूल्य है। प्रत्येक बिस्तर के चारों ओर पर्दे बहुत अच्छे हैं। यदि आप बाहर जा रहे हैं तो उनके पास लॉकर भी हैं जहां आप अपना कीमती सामान रख सकते हैं। मैं यहां 1 रात रुका और मुझे कभी कोई परेशानी नहीं हुई | दैनिक यात्राओं में छात्रावास के बाहर एक पिकअप है। और हां, Noura का विशेष उल्लेख। वह पर्यटन, खाने के स्थान आदि के बारे में सभी विवरण प्रदान करने में बहुत मददगार है और हमेशा मुस्कुराती रहती है :)

Couldn't beat Noura at chess but I'll definitely improve and comeback to take my revenge :)

The breakfast provided is same everyday but I can’t really complain because the quality of food is great and worth the money paid
Noura and Khalid were at the reception, on reaching the hostel itself they made me comfortable. Both of them were friendly. Coming to the place, this hostel is in middle of city centre, its really clean and the facilities provided is all good. Staff is present 24x7 and they will help us with whatever we need

Amazing place right in the downtown, close to everything. The facilities are nice and stuff is so helpful, especially beautiful Nora. I strongly recommend this place!

They were fully booked the next days, so I couldn't stay there more.
Seriously, this is the best hostel I ever set foot on! Perfect location, extremely clean room, nice facilities and they have Noura, the cheerful host! An hostel you won't regret staying.
