Location isn’t very central at all so had to take a lot of buses but they are cheap / free so not a huge problem. Not a social hostel.

The cleaning woman is very sweet and considerate! Good air con, clean room and great bathroom

The room was turned to the street so was pretty loud at night as there is a bar straight across from it. Since the room is slightly below street level you cannot really open the window to let the in either. All of this is nothing to do with the host but if you are a light sleeper, should be aware. If it does not bother you then you should be good.

Good location for sightseeing or being near Atocha if travelling further. The bus stop to Atocha is 3mins away. The place was very clean and the host was great. Provided great recommendations for food near by. Easy communication overall and very easy check in/out.

It was cold in the room and the host did not give the blankets even after request for the second night, just thin sheets were available. We had to use our coats to cove ourselves at night... Also no info about the wifi code when we arrived. The host did not respond to the message on booking platform. After the call he came and gave the code for the last night (of 2 days), offered to turn on the heating via airconditioner (although a day before he sent a message saying that we should not change the temperature on of the device:)). We did turn on to heat the room, but then I got a headache, so we ended up again with additional clothes instead of airconditioner heating. The room No2 (1,3 also) is in half cellar and has bad ventilation, consequently funny smell is throughout the appartment. They are trying to solve it with fragrances, which is nice, but if you're sensitive, it' worth having it in mind. The host kind of tried to respond to the requests after the call, but he could organize the stay in a more convenient way for himself and the guests.

The neighbourhood is quiet, quite clean room.

I strongly advise do not book this place, it's in a dangerous neighborhood and far a way from everything . The smell of the place weed and smoking even though it was prohibited and very dirty , there was spiders a lot of spiders. After all that I decided to keep my luggage and book different place and cost me a lot of money because my wife pregnant and the smell of smoking weed very strong I couldn't stay. By the way the check in is disaster no one there and no instructions and i try to call no one answered I waited very long time.

Room was very dusty and it was easy to tell that it was cleaned in rush. I don't blame the cleaner, because we all know how little time they have, but it would be nice to not have someone else's hair on your floor or a spider's web in the corner. Main light in our room also didn't work, we only used the mirror one.

The staff was nice, sheets appeared to be clean and air conditioning worked really well. The blinds were also nice.

We were told to send the host a message 15 minutes before arrival. We texted him about 30 mins before arrival and once we got there, we had to wait around 30 minutes for him to answer and show up to open the place for us. Once we walked inside the building, you can immediately smell cigarette smoke. It was even worse in our room. My wife and I cannot stand the smell of cigarettes which is why we got a non smoking room, but it seems like the person before us definitely smoked a lot in this room, and one of the other guests in the hostel was constantly smoking in his room which we could smell. After checking in, we left the window open with the fan running for several hours before we returned but it didn’t help much.The smell was so strong on the first day that my wife and I could not sleep, and it gave her nausea, causing her to cough and gag throughout the night. When she woke up in the morning, she threw up because of how bad this was. We reached out to the host regarding this issue, his response was that he would just ask the cleaning staff to add more air freshener, as if suffocating the room with more toxic smells would help. So unfortunately we had to sleep with the windows fully open, but the window is on a main walkway, so people kept walking by and looking in throughout the night and we were constantly being woken up. This experience was so uncomfortable which was a shame because it could have been so much better. We couldn’t wait to leave.

The location was good, only a short walk to the train station. The place was generally very clean.
