Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe restaurant produces delicious food but there isn’t a single item in the menu for a vegetarian. So many people do not eat meat or fish these days, me included, this seemed out of touch with modern times.
It’s a very interesting building with lots of history. Birds roost in the courtyard tree which is magical as they sing loudly.

United KingdomMinor, but worth adding that the Tesla destination charger wasn’t working. Maintenance did appear instantly to help me try fix it but no such luck. Rooms a little outdated, but still comfortable and a welcome site after a long day.
Firstly, I’ll start by saying that, Alcantara is a hidden gem destination in Spain. Perhaps a little bias, as I’ve been visiting for 10 years. Nonetheless the place is a natural beauty! So location wise, if you want a relaxing Spanish countryside stay, here is the place. The hotel itself is cool and a unique stay, the fittings and the history behind the building is very cool. Staff, like most people in the village, are very friendly and helpful to someone with mediocre Spanish vocabulary. My favourite part of the stay was the walk back to the hotel at the end of my day, really was pretty at sunset/sunrise.

United KingdomWe booked the hotel because it had a pool & travelled out of our way to get to it. Only to find the pool was closed, very disappointed 😔 & would have cancelled the booking. The room was very hot the air conditioning was not adequate for the size of the room, we had a very uncomfortable night & did not sleep very much. We had a booking for our return trip, this has been cancelled.
The staff especially Maria who looked after us.😊the evening dinner was great.

United StatesWhen asked about the spa, we were just told it was closed. The Pool was a green mess and not suitable to get in
charming converted convent ( with historical milling equipment onsite from its former life) in a quiet, ancient town. the goats with bells outside our window were the perfect country ambiance. The menu de dia was a good value, a small bar on site and a king bed proved to be a restful overnight stay. The town is rich in Roman antiquity surroundings.

United KingdomWe were unable to adjust the controls to cool the room down and the weather was unseasonably hot. The only option was to sleep with the window open which we weren’t keen about.
A nice welcome from reception staff and a comfortable room and bathroom. There was a nice ambience in the hotel and the restaurant staff were very friendly. There was a lovely bar area to sit out in the warm weather but also space inside. The half board option was excellent value. On-site free parking. Hotel is slightly out of town and easy to get to.

United KingdomThe lighting in the room was too insufficient for my eyesight so I could not read or do my crossword. There was only one eextremely small window in the room. This was our 4th visit and previously we had more natural daylight from windows. The room decor was rather drab and very plain.
Breakfast and evening meal were good. The room was spacious, with a separate sitting area containing two sofas. We had a large bright bathroom. Parking is easy.

United KingdomThis is a rambling building and our room was as far as possible from reception, though the hotel wasn’t busy. Corridor lights were on motion timers which didn’t always come on very quickly and, having taken a wrong turning in the maze of corridors, I fell down some unseen steps, so be careful. The hotel is in rather an isolated position. It hasn’t actually been a convent since 1835 and was most recently a flour mill!
Comfortable room. Pleasant staff especially the hard working lady who served dinner.

PortugalOur room could be cleaner, the bathroom mirror, for example, had a lot of splatter. Little natural light on the room.
The location is amazing! It's an isolated town, acessible by two regional roads (so check-in available up to midnight is a huge bonus), but has everything you need within walking distance (including bars, restaurants, a pharmacy and an ATM). The convent stays a top of a hill and looks beautiful. It's fully renovated, although the room was quite basic decoration wise. Check the small inner garden and the swallow nests at the front! Plenty of free parking. Staff at the reception were always super nice! Confortable and huge double bed, extra blanket provided. Very quiet too. The breakfast was pretty good, and although the breakfast room is small, there is a lot of variety (including spanish cheese and jamón).
