Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandIf you fly from Kilimanjaro to Victoria Falls, there is a bit of a dogleg via Addis Ababa. Always feels a bit odd to be flying in exactly the opposite direction to the destination, but that is the nature of Hub and Spoke air travel. Our stopover was an overnight, no real time to head into the city for a look, so we booked a room at the Skylight In Terminal Airport Hotel. As we know, the bigger the room, the more comfortable it is, so we decided to splash out and book a 47 sqm King Room. Check in was slow and convoluted, but that sometimes happens. No big deal. Once we got to our room after about 15 mins of paperwork and fuss, we found it to be about half size. So we headed back to reception to explain that we had booked and paid for a larger room and that should be what we get. The guy at reception looked us in the eye and said, unequivocally, that all the rooms in the hotel were the same size. So we pointed out to him that the price list on display at the front desk clearly showed a variety of rooms and a range of prices. He insisted that the room we booked was the one we had been given. We showed him pictures of the room on our Booking app, but still no joy. So that tried and true trope of "can we see the manager?" was brought out. That didn't do much until we asked again. After about 10 minutes of wrangling, a voice appeared on the speakerphone, also insisting that all the rooms were the same and that we were going to sleep in the one that we had paid for. So another trope had to come out - the review process. After another few minutes of equivocation, we were finally shown to another room which, lo and behold, was exactly like the one in our Booking app, being much larger. All good? Not really. We had a look in the fridge for some milk for the morning coffee. Nada. So we trekked back to reception (they weren't answering the phone, weirdly) and asked for some milk, and also some capsules for the Nespresso machine.

AustraliaOnly 1 bath towel. which we shared, no information on how to operate the TV - which we were hoping would explain available facilities as there was no paperwork in the room to do this.
As a 12hr layover it was well placed. Being inside the airport meant we avoided paying for visas and not having to shuttle bus to the hotels away from the airport the airline used.

ArgentinaThe worst experience. We had a problem with the reservation (because of an internal problem of the airline - which owns the hotel) and they did not want to help us. The staff had a terrible attitude of service and mistreatment. In addition, there was no hot water (supposedly we were told it was momentary but then we found out that it was broken a week ago). And there was no air conditioning either. The coffee machine didn't work well either. The worst thing was the attention of his staff.

United StatesThe air conditioning never seemed to fully work and the room is actually quite expensive for the convenience. $200 for a night of sleep (6-7 hours) is pricey in any hotel.
A great hotel within the terminal and just steps away from your boarding gate. No need for transit visa in order to stay here. The room was spacious and clean and the huge shower was a welcome sight after a long day of traveling. Ethiopian air provides a layover hotel but it’s off site, whereas this one is in the airport.

KenyaVery poor check-in management. It took 45 minutes from arriving to key issued. A very basic room & $180 without hot water in the shower, no breakfast, power sockets not working and a TV with menu in Chinese language, no instructions so impossible to find a channel to watch

South AfricaI stayed for less than 12-hours for which they have an advertised rate of $105, but because I made a reservation through Booking.com, they charged me the full day rate of $180. Not good value for money through Booking.com.
The location inside the airport is fantastic. The facilities are very good.

GabonSo from the room we hear all the discussions from the hotel restaurant, but that's not the worst, we also hear all the beginnings of boarding of the different flights that leave from this terminal and it ends around 2 a.m. in the morning and starts again around 8 a.m. Concerning breakfast there is not too much choice especially in relation to drinks. They room has NO VIEWS on planes are outside. Really dark
I liked the fact that the hotel is located in the terminal. Once you check out no need to go through the police or baggage search again, when you leave the hotel you go directly to your boarding gate.

The breakfast was good, but the time was during the African Leaders Meeting in Addis, and that has contributed to less attention to other customers. Otherwise, it was great.

PolandOverpriced airport hotel, 250 euros for one night due to African Union summit for a 3 star room that is very dated and in need of repair. Room amenities none, not even slippers (only on request) no bathrobe nothing. Hotel restaurant playing loud music below my room from 9 am to 9pm non stop, not ideal for light sleepers.
The only positive is that its close to the airport, everything else is mediocre to terrible.
