Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaMain disappointment is paid wifi in rooms and the fact that couldn't even use our own data plan in our room, so no comms. The pricing for wifi was also very high. This policy is very out of date. Practically like having to pay for water. The room was a tad too small for comfort. Eg nowhere to put 2 suitcases., and the small window looking out onto roof was pretty bad. Overall, felt more like a budget dormitory so not well matched to price. The online pre-check-in process needs to be reviewed with user experience research. There are typos and illogical processes, like users not being able to correct mistakes and requiring people to agree to terms and conditions without providing access to that detail via that process. I found that very irritating. The staff were helpful and fine, but noticeably not as welcoming or cheery as the staff at the Holiday Inn in Suva. Perhaps their terms and conditions of work are not as good. The overall look of the place beyond the dining area has the air of a declining motel that is getting out of date. Like not enough money is being invested in keeping up the place, including cleanliness of stairs and external corridors. A fresh paint and styling would go a long way, but even more helpful would be spending a lot more attention on well-desgned landscaping of the gardens visible to hotel guests. Lots of grass is not very appealing. Gardens is something that Bali hotels do well. You can both hide a lot (eg old buildings) and positively add to the Fiji tropical, relaxed vibe. A nice memory to take home. The big disadvantage of the location is the distance to local restaurants. So it is essential the hotel restaurant keeps up its good reputation (I checked this before we booked). But for customers focused on food it would help to make available a cheap shuttle service to local restaurant areas for lunch and dinner and/or encourage more restaurants to open up within walking distance.
The location and shuttle was very convenient for early flight. Really liked the entry foyer and open dining area with the two live local musicians. They were great - really helped add a pleasant vibe to the place. Service was good at both the bar and the dining. We also really appreciated the restaurant (for dinner). One of us is a vegetarian so really like the fact there were a good range of choices (etter than in many Suva international restaurants). We both really enjoyed our food.

New ZealandRooms and facilities were old and need of an update, there were lots of mosquitos in our shower when we arrived, and it wasn’t as clean as it should have been. We used the hotel taxi service to go somewhere which was great, but we couldn’t use it to return despite the driver telling us to just call the hotel and they would pick us up. We ended up flagging down a taxi which worked out in the end. This place is good for one night just before a flight, but definitely not a destination hotel.
Great location across from the airport. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The airport shuttle service was prompt and friendly. You could easily walk to the airport if you don’t have too many suitcases.

New ZealandThe pillows were lumpy and to soft for our taste. A very minor thing.
We stayed at Gateway as a stop over before flying to Kadavu Island. We were very surprised as to how nice it was. I wish I was staying longer. The food was delicious and very attentive friendly staff. Clean and tidy room with everything you could want. We would definitely recommend Fiji Gateway.

Our group of ten family members stayed on our arrival and departure dates, and agreed it was a fabulous transit hotel. Close proximity to the airport and free shuttle bus was wonderful. Clean rooms, lovely staff and nice pool with a slide for the kids was a great start and end to our holiday.
