Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyFar from the center, better have a car. Room was on fourth floor, no elevator. Can’t use kitchen facilities.
Quiet, very few people around. Nobody bothers you. Basic room but ok, with one bed, one sofa-bed, four shelves, one chair and one desk. Bathroom divided in toilet + sink and shower + sink, shared with another room. Good breakfast. Lots of parking. Bonus supermarket nearby.

FranceVery basic. Nothing special, very minimalist room. Small bed. Breakfast stops at 9am… a bit too early considering it’s a holiday and maybe one is extra tired from all the hiking from previous day! Walls are very thin, you can hear everything, all sort of noises coming from next door. No elevator. Far from the center. Too expensive for the service provided.
Ok to stay a couple of nights… View is great! Nice that there’s tea and coffee available all day long. Plenty of space to park the car.

ItalyUnfortunately the room smelled like mold. Probably a ventilation problem.
Huge free parking in front of the guesthouse. Pool table, table tennis, and a small gym are available to guests for free. Nice view on the harbour from the windows. Staff was kind.

HungaryThere are not enough power sockets in the room. Some of the available ones are hard to reach. We did not have hangers in the room or a place to let towels properly dry. There was no cleaning or trash removal during our stay (7 days).
Great selection of breakfast choices. Coffee and tea are available all day. The view from our room was nice, but the room itself is very primitive. For us, wifi worked on the 4th floor. There was no need to use Ethernet connection. Torshavn city buses stop close to the hostel and grocery store 'Bonus' is within 2 minutes.

FinlandIt's a bit far from the town centre, especially when going back to the hostel, as it's all uphill. If you depend on the free buses to take you to and from town, it might take some time to understand the schedules, and the buses don't run that frequently in the evenings and weekends.
It's an old school from the 70's and looks quite basic, so we were a bit sceptical at first, but it turned out to be a really comfortable place to stay. It really has everything you need, and the amazing view over the town and the breakfast exceeded expectations.

LatviaThese are the pointers and something to bear in mind: -when there is a fog - finding the dorms are a pure luck; - bathroom/toilet are within the same space as the rooms - meaning, I had the pleasure to hear my neighbour! I thought that the bathroom will be under the key for both rooms (see photos); - internet is not great, but work ok in the reception area or downstairs; - as mainly all the necessary information is online - do get yourself internet when traveling to Faroes in general. Internet is not everywhere and even when it is accessible it can be poor and when the weather is bad - it is non existent. - the place had some hot options - well, served in bowls does not keep them hot or warm, so continental should be main option; - just to reiterate that there is no lift, so heavy suitcases would be a bit difficult going; - as reception is kind of available from 2pm, there is a phone number to call. Well, for people from abroad it costs a fair penny to call, so it is not such a good option; - lastly, the payment. When I booked it, the message stated that monies will be taken before the arrival. We left the place and moved to Vagar Island where we received email that stated to use the link to make payment! Surprise we did not wish to expect. We checked the CC that payment indeed was never taken - frustrating as we like to pay ahead so we can budget the spending money. Also - people might not pay! Email is a bit poorly translated in English - did took couple times to read as one part stated - your booking will be confirmed upon payment! We just left!
When we booked the property we were aware of sharing the bathroom and the fact that those were dorms, however think more information could have been provided. Location wasn't bad per se, but it is fairly out of the centre - walking down is fine, but up in the hill on the way back - not so much. In general terms it cost like GBP70 including breakfast, so for the Faroe islands that is a pretty good deal. I have never been in the dorms, but did think that they will be reasonably "modern" - well they are not. Of course, need to take all your toiletries and hair dryer if one needed. Some repair works needed as we equally got stuck in the toilet! The 2 beds are a bed and a sofa. There is no furniture and nowhere to dry your towel. The rooms that share facilities are in the one place - so you need to hope that your neighbour will be reasonable! We were not so lucky! This is something to bear in mind. Reception works only from 2pm (if so) to 10pm. There is no material about the Islands - you get something at the Information centre. As for the any timetables - all online. Tea and coffee facilities were available in the breakfast area.

United KingdomWe did not realize that the guesthouse is actually a residence for students during the school year. This makes it very much "institutional" and it doesn't have a very nice or friendly vibe that you would normally expect from a guesthouse.
The guesthouse is decent value for money, is acceptably clean and has a pool table and piano guests can use.
