    The stairs.

Quiet location, beautiful grounds around the house. Very friendly & helpful hosts. A very relaxing holiday. Highly recommend and we hope to visit again.

Idyllic countryside gite, with some issues

There were however two main issues which caused us to leave early (1 night rather than our planned 3 night stay). The first was the kitchen which is tired and needs at least a really good, deep clean, and preferably a replacement of the kitchen sink, which was stained and chipped, and the work surfaces. Some of the bowls/utensils were ageing, scratched with ingrained dirt, and could be replaced at minimum cost, but were not good enough to offer for guest use. The second issue was the stair case which needs to be negotiated with great care, particularly on the way down, as it is very steep with narrow treads and a slippery wooden surface. As the bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom and WC are downstairs, this was not conducive to having a few glasses of wine in the evening.

It’s a great place to stay if peace and quiet is a priority. It is set in lovely grounds and has an outdoor, heated pool. The owner lives in the adjacent house though sadly we didn’t get to meet as she was away. The property is a converted outhouse across the courtyard from the main house and has been sympathetically restored, retaining a lot of character and charm. The main bedroom is a good size and is a lovely bright room and nicely furnished.
