The location and facilities were excellent for people starting the Camino Frances: a comfy bed and close to lots of shops in St. Jean Pied du Port. Josef was super helpful, thank you so much.

All but the cost. Paid in advance 2 nights but then found out that I would need to vacate from 11am to 3pm, and I was looking to rest then before my Camino .. once I learned I wouldn't be able to use the private room that I rented I asked for a refund of the 2nd day and I vacated the unit. As I checked out by 10am and gave notice, I'm sure they were able to rent again but upon requesting refund for the 2nd day by text and email .. no response.

We booked for 2 nights. Arrived late that day and told the next day we needed to vacate the premises between 8am and 3pm. No mention of that when booked. After 24 hours flying it was the last thing we wanted try to get over jet lag.

The hostel was fine, not much special but I wasn't looking for that. The owner however was quite unkind and rude. I was chatting with another person staying at the hostel, a chinese girl, and he seemed to be acting a bit racist towards her, while she was being kind and enthusiastic. In the morning, the owner woke me up by pulling on the side of my bed and shaking. I startled awake thinking I had overslept, but it was over an hour before check-out time and others (in the room!) where still sleeping whilst he was loudly talking to me about something insignificant.

The owner offers according to booking a washing machine. In fact, he is using them by himself and refers to a public machine 1 km away. As well, no matter what you have by 8 am you have to be off the house.

Strict rules about ‘security’. Bars on all windows. Locked in by landlord (who slept on top floor) at 22.00 with no flexibility. When questioned about fire escape; he said he will come down and unlock the front door. So if the fire was in his room, landing or stairs and couldn't get out of his room, how could he unlock the exit door on the ground floor for guests? Must be illegal? This property should be reported to the relevant authorities. Felt unsafe and like a prisoner.

The space to store gear was pretty small, and the width of the passageway felt a bit claustrophobic. But minor issues really. Pretty good all round.

Very handy to the Camino, close to necessary services for the pilgrim. Liked the privacy of the bunks with the curtains, with individual power and light. Good sized space out the back to hang washing. Very functional small kitchen.

The washing &dryer was advertised as a facility and this was the main reason we booked it. We arrived at 5:00 pm. Then we were told they would be available at 3:00pm the next day 😡No compromise. Towel thread bare. Told we had to be out by 8:00am: even though he was clearing the rooms & my husband was at the laundry.
