Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIt is an attic apartment with the only access being a very tight, steep flight of stairs. Ok for traveling with a small carry-on or backpack. Larger suitcases would be difficult to get up there.
Very central in the walled city with a nice little panorama window. It has everything you need, including a washing machine. The parking provided is about 3 minutes in a subterranean garage under a public square.

AustraliaThe bed rolls into the middle. Only a double so a bit uncomfortable. Be prepared, as we were, to not take suitcases. Up 3 very narrow flights of spiral staircase. There is a rope to help. Take very small (carry-on size) or backpack. Bit of roadwork going on so bit tricky negotiating narrow cobblestone streets in the car.
Loved the position of this little attic apartment in the old town. Beautiful view from living room window. Move the stools to the window and enjoy a platter and wine with a view. Bonus is underground carpark 5 minutes walk. Very quiet.

LatviaThe host left key for us in the key box which is located on the city boarder. We came by train, not by car (he didn’t ask) and the trip to pick up our keys costed 2 hours and 30 euros (public transport) for us.
Marvellous view on window, renovated bathroom and kitchen, nice location

AustraliaThe stairs are a nightmare, don’t book this apartment if you suffer from any knee issue. I saw a cot in the cupboard, I was horrified to think of someone carrying a baby up or down those stairs, so dangerous . If there was a fire there would be no escape. The shower is also very dangerous, it’s tiny so when you move you bump the tap so get scalded. Previous reviews had mentioned the bad drainage in the shower and basin and those were still not working during our visit. There was no plug for the kitchen sink but owner didn’t rely when I asked where to get one. Also few utensils in the kitchen to cook with. When we arrived the refrigerator was completely frosted with ice to the point where we needed to defrost if it was going to work at all for us. The car park is very dirty and scary.
It was in a fabulous part of the city, very easy walk around the old town. The apartment was quite spacious and I loved having a window to open.

SpainPicking up the keys was a bit complicated and tricky. Firstly, we had to go to the entrance of the city to pick up the keys of the building (5 km away from the apartment, about 15 minutes by car). Then we entered the building and picked up the keys of the apartment and the parking, we left the car in the parking (which is very close to the apartment) and finally went back to the apartment. I believe it would be much better if one could pick up all the keys simultaneously, specially if it was directly in the apartment.
The location of the apartment is amazing and having a parking spot is very useful in a city like Saint-Malo.

United KingdomThe building/staircase to the top floor flat is a bit tired and doesn't seem clean. The flat smelt very strongly and though not a bad smell, it was very strong. Resolved by opening the windows in the daytime.
The location is great, inside the walled town and close to the sea and restaurants etc. The room was good value and comfortable. The host was very helpful when we messaged him on the day asking questions.

United KingdomThe stairs up to the 3rd floor flat were a very narrow spiral staircase and as an older person I felt very unsafe on them. A warning would have been helpful. Also a little map of where the underground car park was situated would have been helpful and better instructions how to access it.
Lovely apartment, very comfortable and lovely view of the sea. Very interesting location within the city walls and close to shops, restaurants and the cathedral. Great then to walk outside the wall to see the harbour and beaches.

CanadaVery steep stairs; not really suitable for older people or those with lots of luggage. Not enough light on the kitchen counter for any serious cooking. Add some towels for drying the dishes. Fix the bathroom sink - it drains VERY slowly! Repair the electrical outlet in the bathroom beside the mirror - needed for shaving and hair care! Add a sign in the bathroom warning people about how hot the hot water can get - if you bump the handle while showering, you can get scalded. . . . . .
Location in the inner city and near the fortification wall, and having the secure parking facility. Apartment was reasonably well equipped. But we do have a few suggestions. . . . see below.

BelgiumI am still in good shape, but the staircase leading to the appartment is very steep and narrow, so any big luggage will be an effort to take up.

CyprusThe room was on the 3rd floor (no elevator) with the usual steep steps you find in old French buildings. The room had only one heating element, clearly not sufficient for the whole apartment.

United KingdomThe entrance stair way is a steep staircase over 3 floors - which is understandable but should be made clearer on the property description. It is not easy to get suitcases up and down. The entrance hall and stairway were filthy with a very worn carpet. It really was not an encouraging or welcoming site. The flat itself was clean but is just full of missed opportunities, it could be so much nicer. There is nowhere to sit and eat food comfortably for 2 people. A small table and chairs just by the window would be very feasible. The sofa had a covering on it that felt cheap and was not conducive to sitting on to eat. The rug by the sofa was full of stains. The bedroom was most unwelcoming. The sheets were thin and although clean, were clearly well used and the pillows were uncomfortable. Fresh new bedlinen with comfortable pillows would make a lot of difference. All in all we were very disappointed and spent as little time in the apartment as possible.
Location is perfect for staying intra-muros. The view from the one window in the living area is special. The bathroom and kitchen are well equipped. The provision of a carpark space is welcome but the instructions of how to access it are non-existent. The space is also very tight for anything other than a standard sized car.
