Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHaving to pay extra for breakfast.
Great setting and the hotel has been beautifully restored. It’s calm and welcoming. The breakfast was ok but the evening meal was absolutely delicious and worthy of a Michelin star restaurant, we don’t often say that as we are vegetarian. The staff were very helpful. We had a great stay and would definitely rebook if we come back to this area.

United KingdomBreakfast was disappointing for the price they charge. We felt they could do much better. Personally I wouldn't bother paying extra for it. We were in a room with a terrace which was great but the bathroom was up about 3 or 4 steps, so take a torch with you for night-time loo trips!. The room is up 3 flights of stairs. Shower is in the bath. Not an issue for us but a problem if you have mobility issues and should be flagged up when booking I feel. No information about the hotel or the local area readily available. Staff were always professional but a bit remote, not overly 'warm' (except the evening waiting staff and the man who takes away the cars - they were friendly).
The village itself is quaint. We loved the pool and lounger area of the hotel. There are 3 restaurants in the village (plus the village BAR, which is a MUST to experience). The local restaurants all close on a Wednesday, so we ate in the hotel, which was fine but not as good as being out in the village (in our opinion).

United Kingdomthe poolside bar was outrageously expensive. 14 euros for a pint of beer is extortionate, 9 euros for a bottle of sparkling water is equally bad. Its such shame as it put a negative spin on our time by the pool. it seems like they are trying to rip off the tourists as they know there aren’t too many other options in the area
very clean, friendly staff, great atmosphere

United KingdomThe shower is in the bath without a screen so easy to make the floor wet and dangerous. The lunch menu was more relaxed and they could offer a alternative in the evening to the a la carte dining experience.
The hotel felt luxurious and in keeping with the medieval village. Great location for the village. Excellent pool with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas for shade. Good size bedroom. Great views of the Provence countryside.

United KingdomDinner options were limited (though we didn’t eat there, preferring to go to Uzes, Nimes and Avignon for more choice and a lovely walk around. YOU need a hire car if you stay here Minor moan that the staff wouldn’t let us have more than 1 towel each (get more if in short supply!)
Felt closer to a 5* hotel :) Lovely pool area and how the hotel seamlessly integrates with an old village. Hotel also had pool drinks service, pool table and table football and a lovely courtyard. Room was spacious and good AC Breakfast was great both in choice and quality

AustraliaOur hot water wasn't working but they took prompt action to help us. They moved and upgraded our room in the end but the hot water service isn't great. The only other thing we didn't like is that you can smoke everywhere including at dinner when we were trying to enjoy a nice meal as a couple. It would be better if there were some designated smoking areas.
Beautiful historic and secluded property in Castillon du Gard. Service was very professional yet warm and friendly which we loved. They had many repeat clients and we can see why. If we came to the area again, Le Vieux Castillon would be our first choice - highly recommended for a romantic few nights as a couple.
