Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOverall we were very disappointed. We upgraded to a King executive room which turned out to be nothing more than a standard room with 2 single beds pushed together. The bed was not comfortable as a result as there was a big dip in the middle where the beds joined. Additionally don’t be fooled by the pictures. A bath is NOT standard in the executive room. We had a small bathroom with walk in shower. When I enquired at reception about this they told me I should have asked for a bath when I booked. But all of the photos of the executive rooms show baths. The room itself was clean and ok but bizarrely the executive rooms are directly above the function room so for the first couple of hours we had booming music coming through the floor. If this had gone on late we would have had to move as it was like being above a nightclub. The bar wasn’t well stocked. We asked for cocktails which apparently they didn’t do and even something as simple as pineapple juice wasn’t available. I think 4 stars is overrated for Barton Manor now and we certainly wouldn’t pay for the upgrade here ever again as it is definitely not worth the money.
The property was very clean and the food in the restaurant was exceptional.

United KingdomHmm.. Think the only thing the deluxe room was missing was a fridge but I guess if you're only staying for a night or 2 it's not really needed that's about it really.
Room was beautiful, very spacious, loved the bath and didn't expect it to be in the bedroom, we had a couple of the room service desserts which were delicious and breakfast was good as well.

United KingdomIt was a little too warm in the room so had the window open all night but otherwise it was a very pleasant stay.
Beautiful room, tv in the bath, very nice breakfast and very helpful staff. Dinner is very high quality too. I didn't use the spa or gym but as a hotel it is lovely.

United KingdomWe were accommodated in the Gatehouse. There was a very stale smell in the room. We did raise this with reception and someone came to spray something which made no difference. The bed in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable. It was two single beds pushed together, one mattress was soft one more firm and they were slightly different heights. The quilt was also two singles with a zip holding them together which was not comfortable. There was a lot of noise from the road just outside the window. We also found it a pain walking to and from the main hotel in the rain to use spa / restaurant.
The staff were pleasant and the spa was lovely as was the restaurant. Breakfast was also very nice.

United KingdomSmell in public areas reminded me of a boys school changing room. Receptionist in the morning doesn’t seem to have grasped she is working in the service industry. She was rude and miserable. Breakfast was mediocre. Also I see you have got rid of the traditional reception desk and replaced it with a work desk; normally hotels do this to provide a more intimate checkin experience; but management have omitted chairs for guests to sit down in front of reception desk. As such guests at checkin / checkout are left standing in front of the desk like school children about to be scolded by the head mistress. Hotel has potential but so many touches are just wrong…
The bedroom was ok and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was small but looked like it had been refurbished recently.

United KingdomThe hotel was very dated and a strange mixture of an old building with later additions. My brother was in room 2, a lovely room which must have been recently refurbished whereas our room, 103, was very dated with brown wood furniture and dark walls. The bathroom was small and the taps were so tiny you could hardly get your hands under them, never mind the kettle. An ironing board with an attached iron was taking up half of the wardrobe.
The pool was lovely though a little small and the steam room was very relaxing with coloured lighting. The ice machine and fridge with tiny cartons of milk on each floor were useful. I had an excellent facial in the spa.

United KingdomPool area was a let down. No water taps even though there is a sauna and steam room - which is a health risk. Steam room only warm, hardly any steam. No hot tubs despite being labelled as a spa. Gym poorly equipped and too small. Room was nice but view terrible - looking at roof and guttering. The cheaper rooms had better views!

United KingdomThe air extractor vent from the kitchen area woke us up very early every morning . I also think the absence of choice of bathroom toiletries was poor for the prices you charge . I later found out these are available from reception but shd be in place . I would also have expected for the price a small fridge in the room.

United KingdomWe booked an executive room, the pictures on here show a large room with a sofa and a bath. very misleading. our room was a standard room with shower. only difference was the larger bed. disappointing. There is no spa, it is just a swimming pool and a sauna, no other facilities and the pool was full of screaming kids jumping in.. so not a very relaxing spa environment! We were told upon arrival that there was a wedding on and there would be loud music untill 1am. As we had already travelled to the hotel and paid in full we didn’t have much choice but to stay and hope it wasn’t too loud. However we soon discovered our room was directly above the wedding party and the music was so loud the bed was shaking and we couldn’t hear our TV on volume 50. We went down to reception but were told the hotel was at capacity and we couldn’t move rooms. We were told someone would speak to us regarding the complaint in the morning, however this never happened.
- The restaurant and breakfast are absolutely superb and really is the best feature of this hotel. -We also had a very relaxing back massage in the spa and the two ladies that provided them where very friendly and helpful, asset to this hotel. -changing rooms for pool are nice with hairdryers and straighteners for guests use. -beds are very comfortable
