How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

That we couldn't stay longer!
Everything! Absolutely lovely stay. Friendly, welcoming staff, super clean bedrooms with lovely touches eg fresh fruit, biscuits, choice of teas, coffees and milks. Delicious evening meal and breakfast. Lovely garden. All for a very reasonable price.

Do more verity evening meals .. don't want chips every meal .. also do snacks In day . Sandwiches ect very
Breakfast good variety evening meal lovely but pretive as don't like fish or venison was fed up chips an chicken .. add more things to menu .do specials .. also do sandwiches snacks . Day.. hotel is far out . But lots of things to visit.. nice scenery

I couldn’t find fault.
Very modern, spacious, clean and comfortable. A fridge was a bonus. Some complimentary food and snacks were appreciated. Some very thoughtful extra touches.

The reception, (and only the reception) had a rather strong air freshener, which for us was a bit overpowering. We worried that the room may be the same. In the event the room was spotless.
VERY dog friendly, lovely large modern clean family room with great welcome pack for adults,kids and the dog! Location is excellent for Kielder!

Food and rooms were excellent as was location. Our only comment would be the strange method of writing our own breakfast order. On both mornings we did not get what we orderded despite putting it in writing. For us this was not an issue though just funny.

The lodge we stayed in was beautiful and had everything and more you would ever need. So relaxing it was just what we needed. The breakfast was amazing. Food all round was fantastic. Very friendly staff. Would highly recommend to stay and we will certainly coming back.

Breakfast was very good with a choice of cold items as well as a cooked breakfast available. The evening meals in the restaurant were excellent. The size of the dinner menu meant there was us enough variety for us to eat there for all 3 nights. Good bar selection including some tasty real ales. Quite a small bedroom but good sized shower & overall enough space since we didn't spend a lot of time in the room.

Couldn’t fault it. Great value for money, amazing food and service and the lodge was perfect - comfortable and clean with lots of space and extra comfort of robes, slippers, home made biscuits and generous tea and coffee supply were a really nice touch. Thank you!

Room was a good size and nice big bathroom with shower and jacuzzi bath. Attentive staff and also an amazing and fulfilling breakfast served by amazing staff. The young lady who served us at our table was called Ellis and you could not ask for a better service from her as she was very attentive, polite, and accommodating with the choices we made. Overall it was a terrific stay

It was our second time back at Battlestead’s and it lived up to our previous memories of it and we loved staying in the luxury rooms which are private and give you a fabulous view of the stars from the deck outside . It is worth the money spent to stay in such a unique boutique hotel that is sustainable on many fronts .

The system for breakfast isn’t great. Rather than a buffet system for cereals and drinks everything is waiter service. This means the staff are run off their feet and also you end up waiting for everything - so breakfast takes ages. The dining room is huge and could easily accommodate a buffet table so am not sure why it’s like this.
Huge room with lots of facilities for tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc plus a small jar with some nice biscuits in. The restaurant seems to be a bit of a foodie destination and the food, although not cheap, is really good. There’s also a lovely courtyard out the back with big bird feeders in which is full of wildlife and very pleasant.
