How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I like everything about the current facilities, however, there could have been some additions that would have made the experience even better. For instance, a sink within the sleeping area would have been useful.
Comfortable pods, and quite clean common areas, toilets and showers. Good storage. Central location. Highly recommend it if travelling on a budget.

Beds were a bit firm, lack of sofas in the common for to enjoy a bit of relax.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making my stay even more enjoyable. The central location was perfect for exploring the city, and I appreciated how clean and tidy the environment was throughout my visit.

It’s a bit expensive to be an hostel, but totally worth it!
Great location in the center of the Old Town, clean, quiet and with an amazing breakfast. I was traveling solo and I would recommend it because it’s very safe and close to the main attractions.

The showers were a bit dirty, but that is my only negative point.
The beds were very comfy, the hostel was also very safe when we were there and each room and section requires you to have a code to get in.

After checking in, no instructions were given about the common area/kitchen facility. I guess, it slipped, not a big deal.
Perfect location in the very heart of Edinburgh old town. Nonetheless, it was very quiet at night. All spaces were very clean and neat. Pods were spacious enough and comfortable. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Also had the chance to keep my luggage in a storage room (no additional fee) before check-in time. Toilets were also very spacious and cleaned several times a day. Great system for room lockers (with an automatic code).

No usbc cable ports or at leat power socket in pod would be useful. To clarify didn’t have usb charger for my phone so couldn’t change my phone in the pod while sleeping, been changing in nearest power socket. It wasn’t bad, however if I would be in a rush or before flight it would be a little annoying. Anyway 10/10 place for a stay.
Honestly one of the best sleeps I ever had. All environment is in a sleep mood. Ambient lighting, clean, silent, perfect for relaxing and sleep. Very helpful and nice staff, mega clean facilities. My stay ended up like a sleep retreat after leaving my both kids at home. Thanks for that.

The female pods felt a bit cramped and claustrophobic. The seating arrangements in common room/kitchen were somewhat uncomfortable.
The facility was excellent overall. My time in the courtroonm was enjoyable due to its spaciousness and ample seating. The kitchen maintained a high level of cleanliness, the staff's friendliness and readiness to assist made the stay very comfortable . The washrooms were impeccably clean, featuring excellent shower stalls.Location was convenient, with all necessary facilities nearby. The rooms and linens were spotless, ensuring a very comfortable stay.

Best location. Right in the middle of Old Town. Kitchen available to prepare your own meals if desired. Clean bathrooms. Cosy pods that gave you a bit of privacy. Close to Waverley train station.

Bathrooms had a pretty bad smell for a day but then they cleaned it up.
Bed and room were kept very clean and tidy. Lockers were secure enough with passcodes. Another plus is they allow luggage drop off before check-in time.

My pod/bed was not properly cleaned after the last person before me. :(
Exceptional location, it doesn't get any more central!! Kitchen was equiped and it made a huge difference on my wallet. Personel was kind and helpful, and let me leave the bag 'till many hours after checkout. Code system was practical and people made a general effort to be quiet, so I had no problem sleeping at all.

Great to have bottom pod but this meant a ground level horizontal locker which I found awkward to access but this a small gripe. Overall facilities were very good
Excellent location. Breakfast OK. Good value but prefer self service options for cereals etc and at this hostel it was served by staff only

always had issues with the cold, there wasnt much insulation in my room since walls of the capsule were freezing to the touch. heater was also limited so couldnt adjust. got constantly sick.
best location by far, staff super friendly and helpful, nice showers, areas kept clean and sheets changed on demand. earplugs and masks provided. great place to socialize, met some incredible people.

Locations is amazing - right outside St a George’s Church on Royal Mile. Not loud, clean, nice staff, allows bag storage for the daytime

The hallway music continued through the night and bothered my partner who is a light sleeper.
Location is superb, it could not be closer to the Royal Mile. The shared bathrooms are very clean and well-maintained. The cafe offers affordable breakfast options and good coffee. We didn't use the shared kitchen. It's cool to have live music on some nights and the hostel offered activities/free walking tours.

They didn't have men's shower and toilets on every floor.
People here are chill and nice. Location is central and facilities were clean.
