The Hotel is in need of significant refurbishment. Not withstanding that its a very old, characterful building, full of charm, carpets are worn, decor is questionable and it just looks tired. The first room we were taken to was unfit for purpose with mould on the walls and the bed base...it was nothing shy of filthy . The hotel acknowledged this and moved us to a more suitable room.

The accmodation is very rundown …a lot of things could be improved with very little money and work But there’s a lot that requires attention…generally the place looks very uncared for…With a bit of investment this could be a lovely place…Staff are very nice but they can only work with what they got unfortunately

Location is very good …feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere but 10 minutes drive and you’re into a place called Caerleon, Newport …lots of pubs etc and most in easy walking distance of each other

The room was budget and therefore not in the main hotel, not far, just up behind the main building. It was in need of a few little tweaks like the top of the tap insert coming off but nothing too bad. It was clean and comfortable.

We had to cancel one of our nights stay as we had a family member taken to hospital. The staff were very accommodating.

The restaurant was a little over price for what you were receiving, on peak season ( ie weekends) there needs to be more than 1 waitress they waitress did very well just a bit too busy for the service to be fab, when your paying allot . I appreciate it might not be possible; but a separate access to the spa facilities ( if you are staying at the hotel) would be ideal. As its not briallnt with bad weather conditions coming from a lovely spa straight into the cold and back into the warmth again.

The room was lovely and clean, However it needed a better source of light above the sleeping area as the lamp, wasn't bright enough. The bed was uncomfortable, but housekeeping gave us a topper and was OK. The spa was beautiful. Just the jacuzzi was a tad cold. The hotel its self its lovely nice, clean, refreshing. The staff were lovely and freindly nothing was too much trouble at all, very accommodating when require anything Love it and will return!!

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was nice and spacious. Really enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. Breakfast in the morning was tasty but the scrambled egg wasn't for me. We had food at the restaurant on the Tuesday evening it was amazing. The only downfall they don't cater non alcoholic beverages. But all in all me and wife really enjoyed it and will definitely be returning.

The room we stayed in really needed updating and some modernisation. Service in the dining room wasn’t great, could be more welcoming and friendly.

Spa and leisure facilities are amazing, absolutely loved the pool room! We stayed in the standard double room,. It had everything you needed for a comfortable stay, however could do with some updating and modernisation. (And some soundproofing, we had a perfect audio of the room above us..I’ll leave you to imagine what they were up too..) but we still Loved the feel of the place, beautiful scenery around too! Food was excellent, shame the same couldn’t be said about the service in the dining room. The older lady who mainly served us wasn’t very welcoming nor friendly, only thing I can say negative about the stay. Was made to feel like we were an inconvenience arriving as one of the later tables of evening. All other staff we met in the reception and spa however were lovely and most helpful!

Unfortunately electrics kept tripping through night causing loud beeping and emergency light to cone on above bed, so we ended up sleeping on settee we didn't say anything because we'd had a well needed weekend away and everything else was great

Lovely location, staff, facilities and food , an ideal relaxation spot, to gave a sister catch up, upgraded to the bridal suite too which was like having our own little cottage

Our room was large with a comfortable good size bed. We enjoyed a special evening for dinner whereby a very good Saxaphone player entertained us the whole evening. Breakfast was good. The grounds are lovely. The staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful, and a special mention for Dennis, the Night porter.
