The staff were lovely, despite the mix up at the start when checking in. Offered us free drinks due to the mix up ( which we forgot to take!) And were more than happy to take our bags for us earlier in the day. Only issue we had was the slight noise from the pub when sleeping... Not going to mark it down for that though, it's good to hear people having a good time! Thank you again for the stay, will definitely stay again when villa play away at Brighton :) .

Your site states "Traditional pub food is served in the bar/restaurant from lunchtime onwards" I got there late and hungry but there was no food available. I had messaged before I arrived asking if breakfast was available (No) I would have thought if no food was available at all they might have said. It was my main reason for choosing the Ruby as I knew I would be late arriving and didn't want to go out to find food. The bed was very uncomfortable; lumpy and I could feel the springs. I woke up (after not much sleep at all) with back ache. I was unlucky enough to be next door to a VERY LOUD snorer and the walls were so thin it kept me awake (and could be heard over the TV). The walls in the room were in need of a refresh; very grubby and splash marks underneath the TV.

The shower was great; nice and hot but nowhere to stand shower gel or shampoo - a shelf would be a great improvement. The rest of the bathroom was nice with a lovely soap dispenser. I was also very thankful for the supply of water bottles, which was a nice touch.

Website gives completely wrong impression of place so well done website developer. Room was filthy, area really run down. Noise from road outside and pub below was horrendous. Soundproofed rooms apparently - absolutely not! Horrible stay. Price definitely too high!

This is basically a pub with the late night noise that goes with it. The idea that the rooms were luxurious is ridiculous. Take your own hangers. No wardrobe provided. Take your own ear plugs too.

We arrived @ 15:00 when rooms said they would be ready only to find that we had to wait an hour as room not ready. It was vey noisy as room was above the pub , room was cold with thermostat not working , bathroom door handle broken in half , unable to close and also I cut my hand on this. We had read that although there is a pub below the accommodation you could hardly hear any noise! This is not the case , we had to listen to loud music until 02:00 and then after it being quiet for an hour it started up at 03:00 for another 20 minutes. This was Friday night “our first night” For the Saturday we were exhausted through lack of sleep and took the decision not to stay for our paid 2nd night on the Saturday as wanted to come home. I’m not one for leaving bad reviews but feel very unhappy in what we paid for

A couple more extra pillows would have been a nice option and there was mould around the vents in the toilet and a couple of spots around the windows and also some dirt around the shower storage area , otherwise it was a lovely hotel and would definitely stay there again

Not much. Walls are a bit thin in the accommodation so I could hear other guests a little bit. But nothing that disturbed a good sleep. And more than made up for by the lovely experience of staying at such a kind and welcoming place :)

Loved my stay at RUBY! I was travelling alone, but was instantly welcomed by the staff and customers alike, as one of their own. The place had a real friendly vibe. Had a nice chat with barman who's name I didn't catch, sorry! But a really nice lad studying in Brighton. Also got to meet Laura, assistant manager and absolute legend!! She made me feel super welcome, as did Stuart and the other lovely bunch in there, who had me drinking and singing with them in no time! If you like a lively, friendly and upbeat, uninhibited pub vibe, then I'd definitely recommend a visit to RUBY. Awesome people and place!

It’s a pub and I stayed Friday night, but the music went on until 11:45 with stragglers outside for maybe half hour longer. Was told there was no food here when I arrived, despite seeing nothing to say this beforehand. Website still has a menu, take this down.

They didn't say they were hosting karaoke night, super loud, right under our room. The sound was awful and everything was vibrating till midnight or two. Kettle was full, empty plastic bottles were stuck behind the night table. Smelt humidity.
