Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPet hate, being called " guy's ". All the Staff did it. Poor Breakfast service. At 8.45 am on second morning, no tables set. No juice, no bowls, no fruit salad.,2 yoghurt left, 1 Danish pastry left. Guests were still arriving though. Quality of full English was great though. Serving Staff sullen and unhelpful. Not a leisurely enjoyable experience on either morning, couldn't wait to get rid of you tbh. No drink it dry second evening, Hubby's were gutted !!. Our bottom sheet had holes in, as did the bath towel. No toiletries second morning.
The Mill and facilities. The stunning decor. The location for exploring Clitheroe .

United KingdomNoise at night . Used this hotel as a stopover for a cycle ride . Whilst I did get an e mail telling us about an event where loud music will be played I do think that is then given priority over paying hotel guests . Couldn’t sleep till well after midnight which is disappointing . Fully understand events happen and I’m no killjoy but when I got told of the event I couldn’t cancel my booking so I could go elsewhere . Love the hotel but I wouldn’t stay again when you have a party on as we have cycled over 100 miles this weekend and ideally needed to sleep .

United KingdomWe were informed on arrival that there was a wedding, it would have been nice to know about this when we booked... this meant that the restaurant was closed. Also, the wedding disco went on a lot later than one would normally expect. It was well after midnight when the loud music stopped.
The room was very comfortable and of a good size. Bedding was fab, and everything was really clean.

United KingdomThe room did not have the same style as other areas in the hotel and was a bit plain but it was clean and comfortable. Clitheroe itself did not have much to offer and so the location was not ideal for a long stay- we also found that almost all local restaurants are not open on a Tuesday and so we ate in the beer hall. In the beer hall the food was poor, salty and very expensive, we also felt the staff were not the friendliest- the bbq sauce I asked for to accompany my burger arrived 10mins after me asking for it. I would not recommend the beer hall for more than a drink and the bowling seemed very expensive to me- £18 for 30mins.
The breakfast was great and the decor throughout the communal areas was really nice. It's the sort of place you could come for the night and not need to go anywhere else. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The toiletries and refreshments were really high quality.

United KingdomThe room was boiling hot. When we mentioned this on check out (we weren’t asked how our stay was), we were told there is nothing they can do. That’s understandable, it’s an old building and no air con - sadly this meant we had to leave the window open constantly and were woken up by incredibly noise cleaning staff chatting for ages at 7am and the fan from what I assume is the kitchen. Slept awful both nights due to all the noise and the heat.
The breakfast you need to pay for but was delicious and the staff in the restaurant was nice. The bed is comfy and the rooms and bathroom are big.

United KingdomSeeing several housekeeping staff laying on a bed as we walked past. Very unprofessional. I wouldn't want to stay in that room after several staff members were in the room at their lunchtime! Tough bacon at breakfast and tepid bowl of beans. We couldn't tell staff as they were not around at that time!

United KingdomThe lift was broken, but the price wasn't reduced for the inconvenience. We had to carry a pram up 2 flights of stairs, and there were no staff members around to ask for help. We also really struggled to park as the surrounding areas were full, and there's no parking on site.
The decor in the room was nice, the bathroom was huge! It was a good location as we were attending a wedding next door. The beds were very comfy.

United KingdomThe only down side was it was way too hot in the room. Even with the window open and the radiator off in the main room. I think the radiator in the bathroom was the problem it was on. This made it hard to sleep.
It’s was clean and tidy. Staff were great. Everything in the room that is needed. We had no issues with noise as we were part of the wedding party on a Friday evening.

United KingdomThe nightmare we experienced when the disco one floor below us went on till midnight. Even earplugs wouldn't have helped because the vibrations were just as bad as the volume. Unfortunately, we'd been placed in a room directly over a function where the noise and vibrations were emanating. Why they didn't have the sense and foresight to allocate our room to someone who was attending said function completely illudes me. Never again, which is a massive shame.
Beautiful building within easy walking distance of Holmes Mill and the rest of the town. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.

Customers need to be made aware of functions booked in this room on specific nights .
