How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

According to the price, the facilities were a bit rusty. Old bathrooms and my locker didn't even work. It was broken. I would stay there again just for a night, when you practically are just looking for a bed for few hours and that's it.
The price is very affordable!

Friendly staff and comfortable and quiet rooms, great chill out area to watch a movie or make yourself a coffee ! With 2 microwaves, toaster,and a fridge to store a snack! Superb vibe highly recommend 👍 Bar drinks and food heavily subsidised for guests to make it even better value !

There are like 3 bars around the property which equals a LOT of noise.
The location was a pro and a con. A pro because it’s close to Camden Lock and the tube station

The room smelled funny the staff were rude and the barman below denied me serving half a pint first (i had just eaten and was bloated so didn’t fancy a whole) and then served me with condescending words and sarcasm

The staff is very nice and professional. They helped me out with my washing just because their machine got broken. This is not the first time I am coming here and every time the staff exceeds my expectations. I am a frequent user of hostels due to my work and let's just say some people know how to run it and some people don't. ...here obviously applies the first. Thank you for everything. 🤗

Very small room crammed with bunk beds. No privacy, no curtains for the bunk that are usually there to create a private space. No space to store any bags or luggage. No view.
Great location. Very cheap for Camden. Clean linen. Ok breakfast for an extra £4. Friendly staff.

There was music playing loud in the bar until passed midnight just under my room. I would say not suited for people who want to visit the day and go to bed early. Earplugs required.
The personnel is amazing! Very good location.

Booked a twin bunk room which turned out to be about as 'hostel basic' as it gets. Reminded me of a YHA in the 1980's. Room had its own shower and WC in a tiny (cupboard) bathroom that could do with a bit of renovation (the blackening silicon sealant around the shower tray was layered so thick over time I think its actually now holding the building together). Beds were comfy and room heating worked, but TBH the place could do with a bit of renovation/modernisation considering the price (£120) for a twin bunk room. Half that price and I'd be happy for what we got. The hostel is clearly located right above the northern underground line (as I think most buildings along Camden High St are) so expect to be woken by an audible rumble (no, nothing to do with the food the night before) from about 6 am, that then repeats every ten or so minutes with each passing train beneath you. Its a good way of forcing you out of bed though.
Authentic backpackers hostel in a good location with really friendly staff, own pub/bar and a small chill out room with sofas etc downstairs if you want to finish your pint after the bar closes! Located on busy high st so felt safe and secure with key cards needed to access the building from side door or through bar.

After long trip and carrying heavy bags, dreaming of shower - THERE WAS NO WATER THE FIRST DAY at the hostel. If I was staying one day I would be furious not to be able to wash - AT ALL. Bought a bottled water just to brush my teeth. No compensation from the hostel for that and no info on check-in. Other night had some couple drop on my bed when I came late, they were rightfully kicked-out in the morning and honestly not the hostel fault. Still - another adventure or crazy situation of the hostel.

Nothing really
Great location, lovely, attentive staff. Especially Mohammed whose respectful and tactful demeanour made everyone feel most valued. Bar service and food are extremely good value for money, and also tasty. If someone isn't adverse to sharing a room with complete strangers, I do recommend St Christopher's. I felt completely safe there and loved the whole experience.

Vibrant, colourful, cosy, soothing hostel & pub, it resembles the neighbourhood of Camden Town where it is located. It is small and has essential facilities, but the staff are so kind and welcoming that you immediately feel something familiar in it and don’t miss anything. Excellent blend of different people and cultures, I had a marvellous time there.
