Fantastic hidden gem of a hotel. A little out of the way but worth the short detour. Old and interesting hotel with and huge comfortable room for our family with two adult "children". Friendly and helpful staff and locals, great meal in the bar and breakfast was perfect also. Highly recommended.

The room was stunning. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was amazing, nice and clean with both a bath and a shower. If i need to stay in this area again for work i will def be returning

Our room was fantastic The guy behind the bar was amazing; let me charge my mobile, brilliant service, excellent chat. Breakfast was absolutely fabulous both the full breakfast and eggs royale. Superb find, very happy to go back. Plenty of character and very welcoming.

Gorgeous furnishings, super comfortable bed. Yummy food in the pub and super helpful staff. I ended up poorly and stayed an extra night - Colin (owner) was so lovely, making sure I could order room service so could rest in my room. Thank you!!

This was an excellent location to stay at to go see Hadrian’s Wall. I was with my family and we really enjoyed the atmosphere, the breakfast each morning, and how nice the room was. The staff was helpful, friendly, and kind. I highly recommend staying here.

A passing lady pointed out a drain cover at the front with a sharp corner that could have damaged a car wheel. This should be fixed asap to avoid a future incident. I presume that management already knows about this.

Having hunted via app for accommodation around Carlisle, it was a pleasure to find this historic place. Although a few miles into the country, the management advised travellers of road closures closed by. Good accommodation and restaurant facilities. Food good.

There is not a lift, but our elderly parents managed the short flight of stairs up to their rooms, no problem.

We found this hotel by chance when I was looking for a stop over on our way to Skye from the south of England. It is a short drive from the motorway, but when you arrive, it is absolute paradise. It is an old stopover coach house, and has been beautifully extended and decorated. If you are looking for a true English stopover complete with fabulous food, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, beautiful scenery, then this is your choice! When I say true English, I mean a quintessentially quaint English pub, with original features. Everywhere you look there is something of interest, be it humorous pictures, old beams, slightly leaning walls…. It is a gem of a place. Totally recommend it!

Very minor niggles - had to ask for more towels as there were 3 of us in the room. Bath plug didn't fit properly and water pressure poor although I don't know what could be done about that. The staff were very happy to deal with our few issues.

This stay way exceeded out expectations. The hotel was lovely, fresh and clean. Staff friendly and helpful, food excellent and the room was big with an enormous bath/shower room. Couldn't fault it.
