United KingdomThere isnt anything I didnt like ... it has a charm which is lacking in other hotels ... it is an unique feeling - and, of course, being in the Northumberland country side helps towards that feeling.
I know the hotel - it is in a prime spot for walkers/hikers and others - myself included - to walk the roman wall which is literally just up the road. The hotel is a well established stay for people who want easy access to the roman wall etc. I believe the new owners are going to renovate the hotel in January - I do hope that is sympathetic to the feel of the hotel that is has at the moment. Yes, the hotel is a little tired but not to the point that there isnt much to enjoy about it - in fact that is what I like about it the most and I am sure that is what other visitors come back for. I do hope the new refurbishment restores the charm the hotel already has which has kept loyal customers coming back to the hotel over the many years it has been established as you cannot recreate that feeling.

The staff were so kind to us, from reception to the restaurant, we were treated very kindly.

United KingdomJust needs better decorating finish. We were expecting a gym & swimming pool facilities. They had closed for refurbishment. Poor sound proofing. We had a very noisy person in the next bedroom & heard everyone that walked down the corridor & passed our room.

United KingdomTheir signature burger was dry and charred. The waiter attempted to tell us that was how it should be cooked which was nonsense. It was poor. I complained to the receptionist on checkout and a refund was given. The rest of our evening meal was good.
