Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRestaurant closed (no chef so could be temporary, but I booked a table and had no warning), pub empty so no atmosphere. They opened the restaurant for us to have an early breakfast but no tea or coffee available, I even had to buy my own peanut butter from nearby shop! Room very warm.
Nice looking pub, quiet, clean, simple room. Lindfield is nearby and has a great atmosphere. Staff accommodating. The village is super quiet.

United KingdomThey don't do food on a Tuesday, so I had to go up the road. It wasn't a great hassle but would of prefered to stay on site.

United KingdomIt's expensive for a pub bedroom in low season.
I found staff very helpful indeed. The building was clearly built as an inn, so that means there is more room than usual for a country pub, although not the same level of facilities as a hotel. Decent free car park.

United KingdomThe manager had only been there for three weeks and was obviously making a positive impact. She inherited a difficult situation and I am sure everything will be even better when I next visit.
The Ardingly Inn is ideal for visiting the Bluebell steam railway. The friendly atmosphere and helpful staff created a happy stay. The breakfasts were freshly cooked and really tasty. My room was quiet and comfortable. There was always plenty of parking space.

United KingdomNew owners in the last few weeks, and menu very reduced. Starter disappointing, but main meal was good.
The location was good, very quiet village. Parking at pub. Good walks from there. Reasonably priced small room, and fine for one night. Very good breakfast. All staff very polite.

United KingdomThere was no servicing of the rooms for a short stay and no notification of this in the room, meaning if you came home late and needed something like milk for morning teas you were having to try and find someone. Obviously used teacups had to be used again. We did not see any notifications of the WI FI details in any room. The price paid for the more expensive room must have been for the four poster bed because it seemed other rooms were bigger or roomier.
The new manager and her staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating, the beds were very comfortable and the water in the bathrooms was nice and hot and quick. The breakfasts were excellent, meeting all demands for variations. Perfect location for our needs of a wedding in the locality.

United KingdomBecause it was new, food was unavailable on the premises but arrangements had been made to eat at the cafe next door instead. Nothing else to add- we liked the rest!
New owner on been there for three weeks, but already the place had a nice feel. Good size room which was clean. Nice bar area with good beers and selections of drinks. Area was quiet.

United KingdomNot serving breakfast was an inconvenience but the cafe next door did an excellent breakfast and the Inn discounted our room bill which we had to pay direct as the new mangement had not received my payment through booking .com
Got a call from the Inn to say the owners had gone into liquidation but had been taken over by two people who were trying tk honour all bookings. Because I had booked before the change in management the Inn undertook to cancel my booking through booking.com and arrange for my oayment to be refunded. So far 13 days later no refund.

United KingdomBooking.com told us the wrong check-in time cut-off ( 3 hrs later than actual). Fortunately the manager rang to find out where we were ( driving from some distance away) so we could amend our travel plans, and he kindly changed his own to wait for us.
Very helpful manager who went out of his way to ensure he was there to welcome us. Friendly and professional service throughout, combined with relaxed atmosphere. Best full English breakfast we have had on holiday, with the option to enjoy it outside in the sunshine.

United KingdomOur window overlooked the rear storage area which was a complete eyesore and as such needs clearing or tidying up. The shower room extract fan was not man enough and as such the shower room walls were dripping with condensation.
The location was what we wanted close to the next days destination. The evening meal was very good and good value. The evenings entertainment was exceptional we had a great time singing along with the singer, the whole bar were singing along also. The breakfast in the morning was brilliant, served by the very accommodating waitress/chef.

United KingdomSome of the bedroom decor could have been updated although the room was very clean and the host made sure we had everything as soon as we arrived. The shower needed a bit of attention but for one night it was fine and they supplied toiletries.
Location was perfect as we were visiting Wakehurst Gardens which was only 2 miles down the road. Parking on site was ideal and convenient, the pub served very good food, great choice of main meals and the breakfast menu catered for all. The room was overlooking the garden which was lovely particularly as we were so blessed with good weather too. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room with fresh milk ideal for making those all important cuppas.
