How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Simon the owner was a perfect host and made sure we was comfortable during our stay. The room was recently renovated and was very clean and comfortable and the shower was lovely and hot. The location was brilliant as it was a few minutes walk away from the beach and the breakfast in the morning was perfectly cooked and Simon asked if we wanted the same breakfast everyday and accommodated to our sons changing breakfast. We would definitely stay again in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay in blackpool.

The rooms where great plenty of room. The kids loved the alexia that was in the room. The breakfast was fantastic and Simon was a great host.

Nothing to fault really
Was welcomed straight away and the owner was polite and always asked how we was when seeing us. The room was spacious for 5 of us and beds were comfy! Netflix on the TV was a bonus.. hotel was quiet didn't hear any noise whatsoever and its located not too far from main attractions

Room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed, lots of light and nice bathroom. Breakfast was perfect and the Simon made a veggie breakfast for my daughter. Would definitely stay here again

The cleanest room I've ever stayed in! Felt incredibly safe and cozy in the January winter days :) very pretty room, everything being purple was sooo cute. Lots of storage and a deep bathtub. Simon was a lovely host and I'll miss his breakfasts! The Castleton is a pretty little gem of a hotel, I have already recommended it to my friends and will continue to do so.

The weather was rubbish, only thing I could fault 😁
The owner went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. Even putting up a birthday banner and balloons because he knew our long weekend was my 30th birthday present. The family room was so roomy and spotless. The location is great, in the heart of everything. The owner is very friendly and breakfast was very tasty!

Me and my 10year daughter stayed friday to Monday. The owner was always on hand if you needed anything the food was freshly cooked every morning the room was very clean the bed was really comfy and plenty of tea and coffee on offer. Would highly recommend staying here and we will be back to stay again

Simon was the perfect host. Breakfast was served hot. The hotel is lovely, clean and well decorated. The room bins were emptied each day and the tea/coffee/milk replenished. Turn left from the hotel and the beach is at the end of the road. The best hotel we've stayed in for friendliness, cleanliness and decor.

lovely english breakfast. done by owner. pretty delicious. great location if you're here for academy. pretty close to the town center tho. there are lots of markets around. owner is really helpful, he's also really clean person. no problem with wi-fi, bathroom and room.
