How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Unfortunately the sockets in our room weren’t working so we could charge our phones, I couldn’t use my straighteners, the lamps didn’t work.
Staff were very helpful, great location, food was lovely, rooms were stylish and roomy. I had arranged a surprise family brunch and the team couldn’t have been more helpful.

Ripped wallpaper coming in places, dirty tea stained glass top by kettle, shower screen guide needs replacing

It comes up as Camden, but it is not. It's Camden district, but it is not far by tube. But otherwise, it was perfect.
Very spacious room, well equipped, and has a bonus of breakfast if you want it. The pub food was very good.

Few people have mentioned about the steep stairs. We were on the top floor and didn’t find this to be an issue.
They accommodated a large booking with a few different family members and even arranged a lovely breakfast for everyone on the Sunday morning. Staff are amazing and the rooms are lovely.

Top floor room is really on the top floor.. no lifts unfortunately.
The decor is really nice with some period features still left. Bed was very comfortable, aircon and fan a big plus in the top floor room. Staff were really pleasant and helpful. Breakfast also really nice.

I would have appreciated some cold breakfast options like yogurt and fruits. But hey, I'm from the continent :-) Other than that, go there and you won't be disappointed.
The Clerk & Well is a comfortable place to stay, that combines the pleasant atmosphere of an English pub with the comfort of a very spacious (hard to find in London!), cosy and clean hotel room. Bathroom is nicely refurbished and looked new, stylish and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is being served in the pub, by friendly young staff, and plenty of place in the morning. The breakfast menu consists of (I guess) typical English hot and rich food. I can recommend the smashed avocado + poached egg toast. Pleasant place to enjoy a drink in the evening as well. Definitely a recommended place to stay if you like English pub-charm combined with a very comfortable and spacious hotel room.

It was too dark. Very hard to see and impossible to read.
The room comfy and nice sized. Staff was kind and helpful. Proximity to tube station!

Just sort out the windows. A wedge in between may help them not bang in a windy night.
Lovely, comfortable big room. Asked for two singles but arrived to a double. Luckily I was with a very old friend. The windows rattled as it was a very windy night. Had to put cardboard in between them, during the night. Although these were negatives we didn’t mind our stay whatsoever and had a wonderful breakfast too.

Well appointed room and nicely presented. Great to have the Pub which was bustling with custom combined with great food and beverages. Great breakfast with good coffee. The Staff were the BEST , checkin and for my meal and again at breakfast and check out. Hats off to the staff.

The bar had no ale, and although the breakfast was lovely, the poached eggs were cold.
We loved the accommodation, the room was spacious and very comfortable.

The stairs to the rooms means you have constraints on your luggage
