Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI am afraid the road noise was an issue, but it is set right on the road! Our bathroom had a role top bath with a shower over. For the shower to work in this setting a lip has been built over the side of the bath. This feature was not of the highest quality and is clearly quite hard to keep clean and in good condition.
The rooms are in a converted barn which results in very interesting rooms. Our room was huge and included 2 sofas. The room must be a nightmare to clean with all the beams, nooks and crannies, but they had done a pretty good job under the circumstance's. The room was well equipped and we really appreciated the fresh milk in the (silent) fridge and good selection of drinks including fruit teas and hot chocolate. The pub has plenty of car parking and some great features including a priest hole! and 2 lovely beer gardens including one to the rear where you can watch the chickens! We had a very pleasant meal in the evening and a great breakfast. The breakfast has to be pre ordered the night before which may not suit everyone, but does mean it arrives quickly and very fresh (as long as you turn up at the correct time).

United Kingdombathroom was a bit "functional" but the room was designed for disabled access, so probably to be expected although not pointed out on booking. Also a bit noisy by the roadside and bed a bit narrow. Quite expensive room so expected a little more to be honest but it was a comfortable, friendly and clean experience all the same.
very nice room great welcome convenient location, breakfast very nice and good service.

United KingdomAlthough infrequent the noise from passing traffic was noticeable during the night. The dessert I ordered was dry but with the addition of pouring cream supplied, it was edible. The addition of clothes hooks on the wall to hang wet coats would be useful, as would the addition of a bed side table at the left side of the bed .
The room was well appointed, and it had a fridge with fresh milk. The bed was comfortable with supportive pillows, the towels were large and fluffy. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu was varied and the portions generous, my husband thought the mixed grill the best he has eaten out.

FranceI was a bit disappointed with the evening meal, I was geared up from looking at the menu, but it was average. Service was good and the pub itself is lovely.
Great breakfast, I liked the different choices that were offered. Needed to pre book the evening before, all set out ready and attentive staff.

United KingdomNo blackout curtains, so very light in the bedroom from about 0545 hrs. Bathroom - lights come on via a sensor - too bright if you have to get up for a nocturnal visit!
Lovely village location, large off-road car park. Small shop about 10 mins walk away if you wanted any odds & ends. Very friendly staff. Loved all the historical aspects to the building. Comprehensive menu for evening food, I really enjoyed my beef curry. Excellent full breakfast.

United Kingdommushrooms for breakfast
Milk provided in fridge instead of those liittle plastic tubs. Well done. Lovely toiletries in bathroom. Breakfast was good. Good provision for vegan breakfast. Lovely vegan sausages. Mushrooms weren't great, but maybe because they were precooked and we didn't come to breakfast until 9 so probably sat around for a while.

United KingdomOur room had a beautiful roll top bath with a shower over but was a bit of a struggle climbing in and out of the bath. We were surprised to discover the bar closed at 10pm most evenings and disappointed to be refused a drink at 9.50pm on one evening, despite being residents in the hotel?
The room was very clean, comfortable and bright. It was nice to find a small fridge with fresh milk provided as necessary

United KingdomThere wasn't anything to dislike.
The Crown is a lovely old thatched building that is full of history and character. The room we had was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The attached bathroom was bigger that expected with a really good shower. The tea/coffee selection had a really nice touch of fresh milk in a bottle in a small fridge. Much nicer that the usual milk sachets. The dinner selection was very good as was the service, also great range of Badger beers. Breakfast selection once again was very good and cooked to order, first class way to start the day.
