Bed was very uncomfortable. We put the spare duvet under the sheet, when pulled back the sheet, the mattress had no mattress protector on and it was badly stained and dirty. The bathroom had mould on the outside silicone, which came off with a good wipe. The lift was not working and we struggled to carry our suitcases down the stairs.

Breakfast was good. Staff very welcoming Room was a bit dated

Interesting hotel, built in the style of other buildings around it. Good central position in the square in the centre of Poundbury. The entire ground floor of the hotel was a restaurant/bar. 'Old-fashioned style of bedroom, but very comfortable.

What would have really made this an excellent stay would have been not having to request toilet roll for the room, fresh milk in a fridge on the landing, clean windows (they were filthy), present staff in the dining area rather than having to spend 30 minutes trying to find someone to order from. Small details make a big difference.

TV - prob largest room we've stayed in with smallest TV! You need binoculars to watch TV in bed.

Beautifully and tastefully decorated and furnished. Huge, comfortable bed. Large walk in shower. Toiletries provided. Room was large. Poundbury is an amazing town.

Great location. Clean and tidy hotel, really nice rooms, comfy beds. Good food menu if having dinner. Breakfast is good, only thing I’d say is get a coffee machine instead of filter but only minor feedback

Room was quite noisy - so not easy to get to sleep. We should have liked a larger bed.

Rooms were huge! Food was great, staff were incredibly helpful and parking is free and convenient. Proximity to Monart Spa was super handy too! Great allergy options on the menu

No hand soap at sink. Menus in room didn't quite match those at the restaurant.

Just my squeaky bed

Beautiful building and everything was in great condition and well thought out. Shower was lovely. Beds were comfy but my twin bed was very squeaky! Fabulous breakfast and great menu for evening meals. Really nice pub

Duchess never fails to deliver for us, rooms are a lovely size, quiet and the food served is spot on. Don't have anything negative to say about Duchess, stayed many many times and very happy.

The level of lighting. Although there were many lights, none were especially bright. A light / lamp directly above the bed would have been appreciated for easier reading. The coffee cups were very small, but a member of staff kindly got us bigger ones when we requested them. We thought that £16 per person for breakfast was excessive, so we didn't book this. A cheaper option for continental breakfast would have been a helpful alternative.

Comfortable and spacious room, wonderful view. Peaceful and quiet. Fantastic bed (comfortable mattress, and very roomy). The coffee bags (both caffeinated and decaf) were especially appreciated, as were the biscuits and the bottled water. Temperature very easy to control. Good bathroom / shower. Staff friendly and attentive, and sorted out minor problems promptly.

Decor was outdated, trying to get through to reception by telephone was very difficult. I called 8 times over 2 days with no answer.

Evening meal was delivered 10 minutes apart and there were only two of us, that's the reason we didn't score 10/10.

Staff were very helpful, gave us a warm, friendly welcome.
