as I went through the door to go upstairs there was a very strong urine smell reminded me of a old peoples home back in the 70/80s

Although the breakfast was good, we had to ask for a second cup of coffee and extra milk. We got the feeling this was resented and we felt slightly uncomfortable about this.

Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. The staff in there were super friendly. While enjoying an evening drink we watched one member of staff go the extra mile to assist an elderly customer. It was so nice to watch a very busy member of the team take time to make sure the customer was ok. The rooms were lovely and although it is a busy pub we were not disturbed at all. The garden are has recently been renovated and provides a lovely area to relax after a long journey.

Initially toiletries were not available in the bathroom, but this was soon put right. A bathmat in the shower would be a good addition, but I must confess I didn’t ask for one. The music was a bit loud and modern for our tastes.

Service was excellent, but a little slow at meal times, only to be expected considering how popular a place it is. As soon as it became obvious how hot it was, an electric fan was supplied, a godsend in fact

Breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal. Staff were exceptional (especially Julie and Jack) Location was ideal for our purpose on this occasion.

Husband ordered sausages but felt they could be more thoroughly cooked. Just a minor point.

Breakfast was excellent. Homemade granola with fresh fruit. Orange juice, coffee and toast. All made fresh. Service was excellent.

Very hard to criticise anything. A pot of tea for breakfast rather than a mug of hot water with a tea bag in it would have been nice. Internet connection was not the best as it dropped a few times.

A great place to stay. Friendly and efficient staff, excellent service and first class food. The decor, furnishings and facilities both indoors and out all of a very high standard making our brief stay a real pleasure.

Breakfast was fabulous. You could have had a full English , a vegetarian full English and a variety of others. I asked for gluten free and they were happy to do that. The room was very clean and tidy, and had everything we needed including a fan, which was perfect as it was a very hot night. I loved the theme of ducks that carried through from the restaurant, to the bar and to the rooms. We even had duck themed complimentary shampoo and conditioner. Jack on the bar, was an absoloute gem and he had an excellent choice in music - even the music was fabulous. I would highly recommend this place, everything was just right.

Its not the venues fault as such, but the weather made the room very hot and sticky and not alot of air. Air conditioning or fans available could help.

The interior decor of the pub and restaurant is fantastic! Very quirky old and new! Great use of un thinkable objects to decorate.
