Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hungaryin the bathroom there is not enough hanger to the clothes and there is no mirror.
we stayed in the 28 beds-dormitory room. The beds are very comfortable, the roommates were good. It's located in a good area, easy to go the centre. The train is going above the hostel but for us it wasn't disturbing, we could sleep. Totally worth the money!

IrelandThe pillow wasn’t very comfortable. At morning the toilet was busy. It could have more toilets available. And if you don’t like or can’t sleep using ear plugs, you should avoid it.
The location is great, easy access by train and subway, close to the Big Ben. It’s so close to the train line that it’s a bit noisy, but they provide all guests some ear plugs.

SingaporeToilets and showers weren’t clean. The toilet flushes once and takes quite a while to flush again. Pillow was very thin. But all of these are expected for the price. You get what you pay for.
Good location - near Waterloo station bus stops that have many connections around the city. Staff were nice. Can always grab a pint with your hostel mates at the bar below.

IndonesiaThe property has a lot of stairs and no elevator, so please consider it before booking. The room(s) need more electricity plugs.
The location is close to two stations & many bus stops and a lot of minimarts and restaurants around. It’s a walking distance to London’s landmarks. The staff is also friendly and nice. The property is clean.

United StatesI was very disappointed that it wasn’t communicated that we would not find towels or soap. It was listed in the booking features, at least the towels were. I had to wait an hour after waking up in order to purchase a towel, because they only sell them at reception, starting at 8 AM. I would’ve prepared for that if I had known that it wouldn’t be provided.
I love the location and the the 24 hour staff was able to communicate with me after midnight due to checking in late and not being able to find the entrance. There are also multiple toilets and showers so if you struggle to find one available, you can look for the others.

MalaysiaMay be kitchen as seating area quite small, is OK for only few person. For 3rd floor shower room, I think better put curtain on.
Overall OK, quite good location. Waterloo and lambeth north station just nearby. Tesco & Iceland also nearby which can grab some drinks & snacks. Few minutes walk to big ben/London eye, this is also a reason why I choose hostel in Waterloo area, some more with acceptable price.

United KingdomI used my portable charger overnight because there aren't many sockets in the room. They have extension cables (a good idea!), but if you're on the top bunk it's still a bit tricky.
Great location! The staff were really friendly and helpful and the bar downstairs was cool. Good facilities. I'd pack a pair of earplugs because it's pretty close to the train line (great for getting there and back though!). For short stays, I'd highly recommend! In fact, I've already booked to go back when I'm next passing through.

United KingdomLike most reviews say- the train noise is a lot. That being said they gave out earbuds and the trains stop at midnight (just don't plan to sleep in the day). There werent any individual plugs to charge up near the bed, there was one extension cord Inthe middle of the room. I found that a bit annoying in the morning when people were setting alarms as they had to climb out of bed and go to their phone which meant the alarm sounded for a lot longer.
The staff were amazing and nothing was too much for them. It was a very friendly hostel with a bar and a kitchen space to socialise and I found most people would speak to me- but it didn't feel too party heavy. The rooms were simple but this is definitely a budget hostel.
