How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Room was exceptionally clean, extremely comfortable beds with good quality linen. Had a fantastic night's sleep. Lovely tea/coffee/biscuits selection, with proper Nespresso coffee machine. Ensuite clean, nice selection of toiletries. Fantastic breakfast included in the price with lots of tasty options. Can't fault it. Cannot comment on evening meals/bar food, as ate in a nearby restaurant, but judging by the breakfast I'm sure it would be just as good.

The shower in our room had a high step up into it. We are fit and agile but still found that a bit daunting especially when stepping out of the shower. The shower control was difficult to adjust the temperature and could be so easily caught during your shower which would either make the water cold or scalding hot. The shower temperature also took ages to heat up initially. We did mention this on check out. Hopefully this will be looked at.
The location was perfect for what we needed. The room was clean and bed comfortable. Lovely soft towels. We ate in the restaurant, food very good and we were lucky to be there for Curry night. Every member of staff that we met were friendly and professional, a credit to the hotel. We loved the breakfast. Thank you

I liked it all
It was a quiet location. The room was stylish, comfortable and had a very lovely coffee maker. Breakfast was second to none. Could not ask for better.

Shower floods the bathroom floor (room 18), have to keep the screen off the batch edge but that limits space. Used the spare towels to remove the flood.
The food was very good, bed comfortable, spacious room with work space.

Unfortunately the heating in our room wasn’t on at all, in January. I realise I could have reported it at the time, but for one night I didn’t have time, I’m afraid.

Heating in room and towel rail not working! Grouting in bathroom needs re doing! Badly. Would make all the difference. And either update tv or at least put new remotes in room that work properly and you can read writing on it! Lock on door needs oiling difficult to open or lock inside room.
Location- being right on Lenham square. Very cosy and friendly bar. Staff and restaurant staff. Very comfortable beds.

Little bits of ware and tear here and there in the room, would be a 10 otherwise
Very comfortable beds and room. Clean with a great shower. Good quality coffee machine and hot drink selection in the room. Staff made us a breakfast to take away as we were leaving early.

Not much to dislike. The rooms were a tad rundown, but that did not interfere with our stay and also amply compensated by the price (in comparison to similar places). Overall, this was excellent value for money and I would not hesitate to stay here again.
A good hotel in the middle of a small English village. The rooms were in the back of the tavern in an extension building. Our room faced the parking lot at the back of the hotel. The room was big enough and the shower was good. The breakfast was exceptional. From the hotel, you can stroll through the village or walk through the fields. Make sure you bring your wellies if you want to do so in winter.

Quiet and spacious room with bath, breakfast was delicious. Friendly staff. Cosy pub with good food. Located in the centre of a nice village with some local shops and a railway station (train to London 1.5h)

Softer pillows and a bathroom air extractor that shut off when the light was switched off!
The breakfast choice was good and varied. The location was satisfactory also.
