How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. No window in the room. Towels had to be requested. No payment per card possible. Reception was closed (weekend) at 11 pm although online states 24h reception.

Entrance to your room through the internet cafe
The breakfast was only omelette and toast but it was tasty and there was a kettle and supply of tea bags, coffee, chocolate and milk, you can brew up anytime

Overall an excellent recommendation, if you're not well travelled - then bear in mind the road leading up to the Guesthouse has quite some potholes and there has been an increase of hawkers on Oxford Street around the corner and also on the markets next to the Guesthouse. However, the markets also offer excellent meals, drinks and other items you may wish to purchase especially during a longer stay.
Excellent value for money residence. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are well cleaned. There is some wear and tear but nothing out of the ordinary. Lighting is good, AC is good. Shower is always nice and hot (or refreshing and cold) - all other amendments are within reach. Rooms are quiet, although there will be some partying just outside especially during the weekend - as well as people enjoying football games. But that's Accra for you - I would rather suggest joining in on occasionally and embrace possible new connections!

Noise on Saturday night from the nearby dance/music place went on until 2:00 am. This is unacceptable. The night porter went to talk to them at 12:30 pm. Finally music stopped at 2:00 am. As much as I love Sharp Guest House including Bella and Irene, I may have to make other sleeping arrangements. Especially for Saturday night.
Friendly, helpful staff. Especially Bella, Irene, and the breakfast ladies. Clean. Usually quiet. Big desk for working. Very good value for room size. My second visit in 1 year.

The wifi service was highly intermittent, despite efforts of the staff to remedy it. The room itself was fine, but the hallway not so nice...and I saw a cockroach in the hallway...which spoiled my impression somewhat. Finally, it seems that my reservation did not appear on their computer, but I still got a room.
Location was close to the Ministries where I had appointment. Staff was helpful.

Well, because of the loud music from the neighbouring bar it was hard to sleep in the night...

Two problems: 1. They hadn't been cleaned the bathroom from its prior occupant. 2. We requested breakfast for 7am and only received it at 7.50am.

The local unscheduled noise level after midnight !
Thanks this is a fantastic location. The only downside is the exuberant sounds outside on the pavement doing their beer sale . One got the gist after two nights so stayed out late to avoid this distraction. lovely staff too!

serviceable but overpriced for what you get, shouldn’t be more than $20. Tiny closet of a room that smelled like vomit. When I told the staff they did spray the room and place air fresheners. Don’t count on breakfast, I couldn’t find anyone who knew anything about it until 9am as I was leaving someone came to the door to take my breakfast order.

So much noise, even on a week night. It went on until around 4 so was very hard to sleep.
Comfy beds, good location- can walk to nearby bars (purple pub etc). Friendly staff. Breakfast was pretty good.

2 of 3 nights we were disturbed all night by loud music until the morning. Even without music there was a lot of disturbing noice of some machine (a pump? airconditioning?) The lobby of the hotel is an internet café. When I had a question at the reception desk all the clients of the internet café listened in. I would expect some more privacy as a hotel guest.
Friendly and helpful personel. Fine and clean room.
