How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

All the staff were super friendly, and the location was literally a few short steps away from everything. An easy five minute walk to the Acropolis, and on the street just opposite Hadrian's Gate so it was impossible to get lost.

Spacious clean room, comfortable beds, great location, soundproof windows (was very quiet). Staff very friendly and helpful. We didn’t need to use the little kitchenette in the room, but it was well stocked with equipment.

Wish we had more time to enjoy it all!
We loved our stay at the Ava Suites. PERFECT location in the Plaka neighborhood. Walking distance to everything. The hotel was spacious enough for me and my two young adult children - which was hard to find in an Athens hotel without going to 2 rooms. We had a suite with large rooms, a kitchenette and balcony with lovely views of the Acropolis and Hadrian's Arch. Magda was such a warm and helpful front desk person who made us feel at home. We would love to stay here again!

We can find no fault with this hotel.
Excellent room and we really enjoyed the terrace and the Acropolis view. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The location could not have been better.

An unexpected gem in a busy area, yet quiet and serene. From the very friendly check-in, to the gorgeous and ample room with a kitchenette, everything was great! A real oasis in the midst of everything.

Breakfast was mediocre compared to the rest of the experience.
Great location for first time visitors. We had an executive room which was very large. The bed was excellent. Very helpful desk staff.

The listing said there was a microwave in the room, which was not accurate. This mattered for us, as I like to put a heat wrap on my head when I go to sleep, and couldn't. Secondly, I am not sure if there was a miscommunication, but my husband asked about making an international call to our credit card company. He was told it would be 4 euros per minute. I timed his call and he was on the phone for 6 minutes. Somehow, the bill was 77 euros. I am not sure if there were fees the receptionist didn't tell us about, or a minimum time charge, or what - but regardless, that was an unexpected bill.
Location and room were great. Staff was helpful and breakfast was good.

In the heart of the city, very close to the Acropolis and other tourist locations. Rooms were exceptional and staff provided helpful information for city visits. Breakfast exceeding expectations.

The only downside was that one night the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night ( bad battery) that’s what it wasn’t an exceptional stay.

This hotel has thought through, and provided, absolutely everything needed for a traveler’s comfort. I am a frequent traveler and that is extremely unusual.
