Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Amazing staff - very accomodating. The boat service to get around was really convenient too and we used the free kayaks. Great cocktails with a beautiful view.

SpainFor my last stay I wanted to treat myself with a bit more luxery. I found this place and was directly excited. The stay was oke, but I expected more. There is improvement to me made. I asked for a shuttle to the hotel for when I arrived at the airport, but once I got there no one was there. However, after making a call they arranged a transfer very quickly. The room is nice, the big window is amazing, but the shower was boiling hot, and I had very little cold water available in the room. Another downside is that the hotel is only reachable by boat, so you will be limited in your freedom. If you prefer to be able to be spontaneous and free I won’t recommend staying here. The boat goes once an hour, but between 7 and 22 they will do their best to go as much as possible. Only after these hours you will have to pay 150 local money, which is very expensive in my opinion for a boatride of 5 minutes. I reserved one at 4am to go on a tour, but they showed up too late for which I lost my tour that day. This was a big downside and something to take in account. However, the owner is a very kind and helpful men and will do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Without asking they payed for the new tour I had to book and made sure the next morning the boat will go. They also treated me on a drink and dinner for the inconvenience. If you just want to relax this place is very nice, but if you want a bit more freedom I would not recommend it. For the price I had to pay I was disappointment and expected much more. The things that happend can happen and I don’t mind that much, but for a lower price would have been more fair. I stayed in better places that were much cheaper. The kayak was free to use which was nice. If they improve some things this place has good potential. Be aware there is construction happening on the site and it can be a bit noisy, but nothing to disturbing.
Nice place to relax and very friendly staff and people working there. Food was also good, but limited in options and on higherly priced.

United KingdomThe bathroom and sleeping was open plan so the shower and bath were in the same room as the bed. As I was sharing with my daughter this didn’t give us any privacy when we wanted to take a shower, we took turns leaving the room.

United StatesThe front area still needs to be finished. The hotel is still being remodeled. It will be even better when the work is done.
The lake was beautiful. The hotel had a lot of activity options. We took out the kayaks to cruise the lake, rested on the hammocks and swam in the lake. We loved the sunset and the food was great!

ItalyWe loved Luciernagas so much that we actually didn't go into Flores as much as we originally thought we would, which means we wound up eating a lot of our meals at the hotel. Everything was great (especially the breakfasts and drinks!), but we would have loved some more traditional Guatemalan options on the menu as well.
Absolutely beautiful hotel with everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, the grounds were GORGEOUS, rooms were impeccably clean, and their many lake-front decks and lounging areas made it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery. We were in Guatemala during a heat wave and we were SO thankful to be staying at Luciernagas where we could float and relax in the lake or the pool instead of in Flores itself where the heat was quite oppressive. Guests can get to town and back with a free hourly boat. This was our favorite place we stayed during our Central America trip and an excellent place to unwind. The hotel has inner tubes, kayaks, plenty of hammocks, a friendly dog (Fibo!), and plenty of friendly staff to make you feel right at home. Really, really loved this place and highly recommend.

NetherlandsWe stayed at the resort for 4 days. We had a kind welcome by the staff. They helped us with our luggage and gave us a free upgrade to a bigger room. The staff is very friendly and adorable, they helped us in different ways. They were very kind, talkative, helpful, professional, and went out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. The breakfast is delicious, filling, fresh, and affordable: the yogurt bowl comes with a lot and different type of fruits. The view of the hotel is super nice, with this lake, and the animals like iguanas, monkeys, and squirrels. Definitely the perfect place to relax and recharge your battery! They offer a free boat service in which they pick you up and drop you off at the main island. It was very flexible and they were always on time. They were always very responsive on Whatsapp which was nice. They always replied within a few minutes. The thing that stood out the most was that the attention to the client was very distinguished and this bought to an high satisfaction from our side. HIGHLY recommended! Thank you for the pleasant stay:)

United StatesThe front desk, restaurant, and boat staff service was exceptional. They were so kind and responsive on the WhatsApp. The boat picked us up/dropped us off in Flores whenever we were ready to return. The hammocks and sunsets were so lovely and relaxing. I wish we had spent less time at our previous hotel (in a different town) and more time here.

United KingdomIt’s really hard to review this hotel. The staff are great, friendly, charming, helpful. The boat man always helpful taking us to a restaurant in the evening, picking us up from Flores. But the hotel itself isn’t quite finished. The pool was green so we couldn’t use it. Not really a problem as the lake is right there. The restaurant said they couldn’t do shrimp, then they could, then they only had one cold beer left but the cocktail at sunset was fab. The canoes are great - we took them over to Flores for breakfast but one leaks! Our room was huge. Air con great. Amazing amazing views. Great shower . But then grey polyester bed sheets. None of its a huge problem but luxury it just isn’t ( yet)! It’s a v relaxing place to hang out for a few days with probably the best views in the area.

CanadaThis is about out booking at Las Luciernas aka now Fireflies hotel. The room we got looks absolutely Nothing like the photos. It is very dingy , has scratched furniture, has polyester sheets which are very scratchy , is small in size and the shower has mold and is not clean. The glasses were unclean. It was not disclosed at time of payment where the receptionist took the full amount. After I complained, she offered free breakfast for 2 days which is a very poor compensation. She said the actual room is under renovation and may be ready by Tuesday but there is no guarantee. While we did switched to the newer room the next day, the shower there only had very hot water which led to us getting scalded. We complained, but they could not get it right. The bathroom had a horrible sewage smell after use which was absolutely disgusting. While all these issues were reported to the receptionist, she was unable to resolve it. Also at night, we had the property dog bark at us and we had to call for help. I was very worried about being bitten. There is nobody there at night in case of an emergency. The pool looks like it has been out of order for a long time. I complained to booking.com and they gave me a number. I contacted the number but they said they were thr owners friend and would pass my message to them. I never got a response. Overall, avoid this hotel . The pictures are not true. I waz traveling with my parents who are seniors and it is horribly inconvenient for us to change rooms, but we will take that option despite being out all day . We had a long journey, and are exhausted! This is too disappointing.

AustriaHotel grounds and rooms require investment and better maintenance. We had a terrible smell in our room due to poor canalisation. It ruined our stay. Also the air condition blows straight into your face and this is very uncomfortable. The windows had no fly screen and thus could not be opened without getting the insects in. On the balcony we had a wasp nest! After heavy rain our room was invaded by ants. The so called infinity pool is a very small pool and was not very inviting. The beach area was not taken care off. Not enough sun loungers and on top some were broken. The selection of food was very limited and for 4 days the same dishes were not available, the hotel did not stock up on fresh fruit and calamari . By no means this is a boutique hotel, rather a 2 star hostel.
Friendly staff. Location: easy to get to the island of Flores by boat shuttle

United KingdomThis should not be described as a Boutique hotel. Restaurant was a beach bar. No patio attached to the room as described and there should be a hairdryer in the hotel. The shower should drain but the shower area was completely flat. The price was roughly double what the hotel should have charged
