Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United States1. The female receptionist, who is probably the only female in the front desk, is mean. She doesn't like customers to question her about facilities usage in the room or anything about service. The impression she gave me is to try to make customers look bad so she might get some kind of satisfied or she just could feel better herself. 2. The first room they gave me was bigger but the wash basin was leaking, which made brushing the teeth impossible to be done without wetting the shoes. It wasn't a big problem but the female receptionist didn't like it when I told her what was wrong in the room. 3. Everything in the second room was okay except for opening the door. They had this kind of door opener which was a piece of metal to slide in a crack of the knob. If you don't pay attention to look for the font or the back of the metal, the door will not open. For someone like me who never used such thing to open a door, the female receptionist was really getting a chance to make me look stupid. I was just happy to leave by the time I finished my stay with them.
1. Most female staffs are nice. They tried their best to help me get the best room they couldn't find for my price.

RussiaI've never thought I would write such review but it's the right time. The property doesn't match booking.com description because they'll give you any random room. There are few dozens of properties in this building which is called Chungking Mansions. So the company which has a license can operate several hotels, hostels, etc. They can put any name: "Tokyo Hostel, Moscow Hostel, Whatever Hostel". Once the customers feedback will drop below zero, they may close or rename it. Regarding the property. Tiny and dirty room. Leaking and broken plumbing, extremely noisy AC, not working TV. Wi-Fi is 0 or 1 of 4 bars and can connect only in the corner of the room. To enter the room you need to use the access card which is one per room, not per person. Before that you need to use the same key to open the lobby door. So if you are not alone - you need to wait the person or enter/exit together. There are cockroaches and its eggs everywhere in the lobby, on the floors and some of them are trying to enter the room. To get to you room you need to use the elevator which is always full. So you can wait for 20 minutes. Optionally you can use the staircase from your floor and walk 8, 10 or more floors up or down. And guess what? On the next day the elevator broke and it was the only option. The floors are extremely dirty and some people are smoking there regardless of the huge fines for that. Downstairs there is a big, smelly and noisy market. If you ever played videogame "Stray" you will understand the atmosphere there. NEVER EVER stay there!!! Even if you need to pay extra 100 USD per night for another place - do it without any regrets. PS. As per reviews Davao Hostel is not the worst accommodation in this building and considered to be clean comparing to another ones. ALL people whom I met were complaining.
Good currency exchange rates downstairs in the building and access to the metro, bus and Star Ferry.

PhilippinesI recently stayed at this hostel with my family for three nights, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it for families with kids or seniors. The room we were provided was extremely small & dirty and barely accommodated us for sleeping purposes if you're on a tight budget and don't mind sacrificing some comfort and cleanliness for a lower rate, this hostel might work for you. Otherwise, I would advise looking for alternatives that offer a more pleasant stay for families.
Lcation. It was conveniently situated in a central area, which made it easy for us to access nearby attractions and transportation
