Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHad a very good time at the Alam Jiwa, staff was very friendly and polite the room was big and spacious. Breakfast was very nice. Also spending time at the pool was nice and quiet. A lot of restaurants in the area, and monkey forest is just 10 min walking.

Italypersonally, only the loud sound of the water running from the two statues in the pool- I’d rather have a softer, more trickling sound of water so you can still hear the birds. it’s a matter of preference though. Suggest to update the information in the rooms about trips and activities. lots has changed.
beautiful quiet location, amazing garden and landscaping. Sounds of birds, lotus flowers, view on the paddies. sitting on the veranda for breakfast; the kindness of the staff. I loved it.

SingaporeNothing! There were some bugs in the room but that is to be expected given the location and the staff were always lighting mosquito coils.
The property is lovely and peaceful, and the room itself was huge with a beautiful balcony looking over the rice fields. The breakfast was amazing with the option to have it on the balcony in the room or by the pool. Afternoon tea and cake was also available everyday. The staff were so lovely and friendly! The location was good, within walking distance to the busy centre but also plenty of restaurants and cafes close by and away from the main crowds.

South AfricaOur rooms were somewhat aged and in need of some maintenance. The walls have some water damage with paint peeling in some places. This was something I was willing to overlooked in light of the many positives.
The staff were the highlight of my trip. They were warm, friendly and helpful... a true embodiment of the spirit of Ubud. The breakfast served in our private terrace was delicious and generous. You are provided with a menu and are able to select the items you want and can order via whatsapp. The terrace views are lovely and gardens are gorgeous. We also enjoyed the outdoor shower quite alot. The location is great with restaurants and the monkey forest was within walking distance.

This stay at Alam Jiwa was amazing. Nice breakfast and friendly staff. The staff always keep smile and treat visitors gently. The location is nearby monkey forest of Ubud. The view from the balcony is quite green. It is like standing in the farm and jungle. The room is traditional Balinese style bringing people serenity. The pool is extremely wonderful - beautiful blue tiles, wooden sunbeds, and stone statues overgrown with moss. It is truly living in the history. Highly recommended!

AustraliaThe hair dryer was old and the controller of the air conditioner is not working properly. We couldn’t lower the temperature to our liking.
Beautiful surroundings. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived in Bali early in the morning. The hotel helped us to organize airport transfer, welcomed and settled us in the room at 3 am! The breakfast was really good. Love the outdoor shower with good water pressure. Good waking distance to many tourist attractions.

AustraliaThe quality of towels good be better. They were a bit on the 'old' and thin side and at times not that white any longer.
The location is close to some good cafes, restaurants, wellness spas, art shops and yoga places. However, there is no need to leave the hotel if you’re seeking a relaxed abode. The pool and the room are so beautiful and relaxing I could have stayed there and just chill. I even had a massage therapist came to my room. Everything is very clean and they have clean filtered water for you in the room and on near the pool. The staff is so lovely and kind and go out of their way to make your stay the best one ever. I was unfortunately unwell one day and ended up in hospital (an infection I caught on one of my outings). When I called the reception a doctor was there very quickly and one of the staff members stayed at the hospital with me for hours to make sure I'm okay. The staff also brought me some flowers. I can't tell you how much these people care and really look after you.

United StatesWe wished the lighting in the room was better. During the day, with all the windows and beautiful Balinese light, it wasn’t a problem. But at night it was too dark in the bedroom area. The bathroom areas, however, was very well lit. We would recommend better lamp lighting, especially by the bed.
The property is magnificent. The gardens are just lovely, private and beautiful. We loved our Balinese style home with its natural wood and carvings. The outdoor private shower was spectacular. You are surrounded by peace lilies and other beautiful tropical plants as the water pours overhead. It was just magical and felt terrific. Each morning we had a delicious breakfast served to us on our private veranda which overlooked our private yard of tropical plantings. The staff could not have been more welcoming, kind and responsive. They arranged for drivers to and from Ubud, who were more than accommodating. In one case, as we went into a store to purchase an extra suitcase, our driver patiently waited for us, then dropped us off to explore Ubud while he drove our suitcase back to Alam Jiwa. This was service that went above and beyond. It so added to what is now for us a visit of a lifetime. Alam Jiwa is a treasure.

SwitzerlandWe had some issues with bugs in the room but the staff was very helpful and came by to sort it out straight away. If you are a light sleeper, we recommend packing earplugs. As the villas are located at a river and you definitely feel like you are in your own little paradise, the cicadas and frogs are active and loud, especially after a day of rain. As it had rained the days prior to our arrival, the room felt rather damp, especially the bedsheet. The aircon helped get rid of the dampness after a day or so.
We stayed for 8 days total. The staff was amazing and very kind. BIG fan of the breakfast which you can put together every morning and either have at our villa or by the reception. The villa had a traditional look and feel facing the rice fields. Beds were pretty comfortable, the room overall clean and the aircon worked perfectly. We also booked a couples massage at the Alam Shanti, one of their sister compounds l just down the road.

AustraliaBedding was a bit damp - not their fault, is the unseasonably wet season they are having. Asked for and received clean, dry bedding to fix - nothing is too much trouble, they really are super helpful and sweet.
Loved the location, private and quiet, and near to but sufficiently out of busy Ubud. Plenty of nice eating places just a stroll away. Laka Leke was a fave - they have different dances on different nights and that was a highlight for me and my children as we went three times! Loved our "house" - was a tad big for us being on three levels, so we just occupied the top floor together. Views were sublime. Dining on the covered / al fresco area was divine. We had one with a lot of the old wood panelling which I just LOVE. Breakfast was lovely. Pool was quiet and calm, on the small side but no less lovely for that.
