How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The decoration is soooo simple and calming!!! Room was comfy and came with everything we needed.... Staff were sweet and helpful.... We joined the Ijen Tour through the hostel and met other cool travelers.... Definitely worth it

We only had one night here, but Ara helped us a lot with recommendations and local food tips. The check-in was smooth even though we arrived late at night. We were sent a self-check-in video and all the info we needed via WhatsApp.

Super clean, well-organized, and very relaxing. The garden area was a nice touch. We did the Ijen tour through the hostel, and it was worth every penny. The staff really cared about making sure we had the best experience. Oh, and the cat was adorable!

We booked last minute after loving our stay in Zzz Malang and wow – same chill vibes. Ara was super nice and even helped us plan the next leg of our trip. Shared bathrooms were always clean and stocked. They even sent us cute café recommendations near the hostel.

We spent two nights here and loved every bit of it. The hostel was clean, quiet, and well-organized. They helped us with the Ijen-Bromo tour at a very reasonable price. The location is peaceful yet close enough to cafes and restaurants. Would highly recommend!

This hostel knows what it's doing. We got a WhatsApp message before arrival with everything we needed – house rules, local food spots, and even things to do around Banyuwangi. The staff was always available, and the room was clean and functional with a small desk and power sockets. We joined the Ijen tour and it was smooth, well-arranged, and affordable. You can feel they care about each guest.

The common area is great for meeting new people, and the kitchen is fully equipped, which was perfect for cooking meals. The staff were friendly and always up for a chat. The hostel also provided shuttle service to Bali, which made our travel much easier.

Everything was great here! The staff were incredibly friendly and helped with anything we needed. The dorm was small but had everything necessary, including individual power sockets. The hostel also had a cute cat, which made the stay even better! <3

The atmosphere is super relaxed, the place is clean, and the staff are amazing. Fauzan was very helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. The tour to Ijen was perfectly organized, and the price was reasonable.

No hot water in private room
Everything was almost perfect. The staff was helpful, the room was comfy, and the common areas were great. The only small issue was the hot water—it’s only available in the shared bathroom, not in the private rooms. But given the warm weather, it wasn’t a big deal.

The whole experience was wonderful!!! The moment we stepped in, we felt welcomed ❤❤ The place is soooo clean and well-maintained. The common area is great for chilling, and the staff always made sure we had everything we needed. We joined their Ijen tour, and it was so well-organized! Also, they helped us arrange transport to Bali, which was super convenient. One of the best hostels in Indonesia!!!

Nope, I love everything!
The reviews were already great, but experiencing it firsthand was even better! The whole place is incredibly clean, well-maintained, and super cozy. We loved that they provided toiletries and towels in the room. The staff (especially Fauzan) was very helpful and even recommended some great local food spots. We also joined their Ijen tour, and it was perfectly arranged! If you need transportation, they also help with shuttles to Bali

Simple but perfect! The hostel is clean and comfortable, and the staff is very welcoming. Loved the common area where we could chat with other travelers. They even have a cute cat that loves to hang around. The self-check-in system was easy, which was helpful since we arrived late at night. Great place to stay before heading to Ijen!
