Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere are a couple of steps to access the local, but it is not because of the property by itself.
This hotel is located in a very special place, the price that you pay worth it because of the view. The staff are very special as well, trying to do everything to attend us.

AustraliaThe room was so very small, there was NOWHERE to put our suitcases. We put them in the doorway and had to climb over them to get in and out of room. We had queen room with balcony and ocean view. There was no fridge. The shower was cold, hot wouldn't work. Asked for it to be fixed and a tiny bit of warm came out but shower was like a dribble when hot tap turned on. 😔 Basin was made out of tiles, plug hole was wonky and mould in joins on basin and shower area. All very rough. Not what I expected for the money we paid and from the photos. I think some rooms are being renovated, could hear work being done in room next door. Also when we were leaving, staff carried our bags up the hill for us and supposedly arranged a driver, but no driver came do we had to find our own way to next accommodation. Negotiating our way through building was difficult as lots of stairs all differently spaced and some very big steps as well as very steep steps like a ladder.
Location is awesome, once you get there. There are around a hundred and fifty differently spaced stairs to get there plus a lane way or two to walk to get there as vehicles can't get right close to the property. Once you get to your room to get down to resturant and beach, you have to go down and up a set of stairs that are basically like a wide ladder, a bit scary. But the balcony in our room was large and the view was stunning...

Italy- noise coming from renovation works (not a drama, nothing too bad, but forget a quiet lazy morning sleeping in) - it’s obviously temporary - hygiene standards: in any case different from the European or the western ones…. - lack of proactivity in changing towels or cleaning the room (but I understand they do it to save resources and economize) - limited choices in the menu - unclear if they have a piece of beach reserved for guests, as the other “beachfront stays” do - impression that the fish bbq downstairs would be just a materialistic area to make money (as a client of the hotel I was having a drink sitting at the beach, drink ordered at the lounge bar, = property of the hotel, and was reading a book. One of the “owners” made me move in a not super nice way because he wanted to have paying customers that would order seafood. Understandable on one hand, less understandable on the other hand).
- Friendliness of the staff - Wonderful view + sunsets - Pleasant vibes at the affiliated lounge bar (music, decent food) - Wild beaches - authentic island vibe - spacious comfortable bed with nice view from the windows, decent wifi and perfectly functioning AC (room 10, no terrace, but it wasn’t necessary)

Definitely keep everything secure the Monkey's are cheeky & can also be a little intimidating but add to the uniqueness of this location. Room service was a bonus when I just wanted to chill out

United StatesThe rooms are minimal. The views are exceptional! The bathroom I did not love. The shower has minimal water pressure and the hot water is also minimal, but I think that is the entire experience of Uluwatu. I am told that they have to bring clean water into town, so it’s not the property’s issue. I just wish the bathroom was more updated. Everyone said this in past reviews, but I didn’t experience it until my last day…the monkeys!!! Be aware of the monkeys. They seem to be out in the mornings and they will try to open your door if you have a balcony! Keep the balcony door locked and be grateful you can watch them from the other side of the window lol.
The location is the best! The staff were all so amazing and kind. I utilized their airport pickup and the communication was very good. Thank goodness they had someone to help with my luggage because there are many steps down to the hotel. Trust me there are A LOT of stairs, but once you are in your room the views is totally worth it PLUS the hotel is a very short distance to the beach so you are very lucky to be there. You will not want to leave the beach area once you have settled in. It’s a gorgeous beach with Lucky Fish right next door. I wish I could have stayed longer.
