Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Indonesiafix the shower, it's leaking, and the jet spray hang is loose. noise wall fan. too many flies. most of the guests also mentioned this in their reviews.
The view. The feeling is like: you return to your old house/room after leaving it for a while and just understand the situation. Its not the best but just 'OK'

United KingdomNothing really! We struggled to find local warungs to eat in but that was expected given the more remote location!
Staff were very friendly, room and bathroom was in very good condition. The food at the restaurant was delicious and cheap, our breakfast was included and brought to the room! Host organised us a sunrise trip to Mount Batur which was incredible - thoroughly recommend. Absolutely loved our stay, would return and recommend to others! Thank you!

New ZealandSmall things only - No aircon, although at this altitude the night air is cooler, and there was an effective fan. Tricky to find, although the key final turn has a good sign.
This small locally owned cluster of simple rooms with en suite bathrooms is comfortable and great value as a base for exploring this area or taking on Mt Batur at dawn. Nice courtyard layout with refreshingly cool little pool. The owner was so kind and attentive helping us link up with the mountain guides. Breakfast was great.

United Arab EmiratesThere were too many flies in the morning so you cannot have breakfast outside. And the room could use more lights felt quite dark in the night.
The staff were very hardworking and helpful they do everything to make your stay amazing. The views from the hotel were amazing. The mei goreng was better than outside shops.

United StatesFlies everywhere, but this is a problem with the area, not specifically the hotel. There was only cold water in the room and the placement of the fan was not good. The breakfast was ok, but not great. The pictures make the pool look really nice, but it's quite small, only waist high and looked pretty grimy during our stay.
Jero the owner was really friendly and helpful. The room was as pictured, a bit small, but comfortable enough. The bed was comfortable enough and warm, I slept well.

BelgiumThe toilet did not flush properly. There were a lot of flies outside. So eating outside was not really an option for us.
The food was very good, especially the noodles. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool, with a nice view and beautiful sunset.

HungaryIt wasn’t as clean as our other accomodations with the same price. The swimming pool was dirty, so we couldn’t use it.
We got welcome coffee and fried banana. It was really nice. Really good location to climb Mount Batur, the starting lounge is just a few minutes walk from here.

South AfricaThe room referred to as “tent” is not worth booking. the bathroom smells horrible, the bed is not a double bed (as advertised) rather two mattress pushed together with a big space in between. the mattress themselves are also extremely uncomfortable. I would stay in the cottages if I return, but the “tent” needs to be improved greatly. breakfast could also be improved as it is very simple (literally a fried egg in between two pieces of white bread)
staff are very nice, the location is very peaceful, the views are nice and the pool is a great asset

BelgiumInternet was very weak at my cabin, pool didn't look inviting, no sheet for the blanket (maybe the blanket was washed), flies are very annoying during the day - luckily not in the night - that has nothing to do with the host, long pants would help, cold shower (normally I don't mind) after a long day or the morning hike it would have been nice, that makes us strong!
Perfect location to go for a sunrise hike, very warm welcome with fresh orange juice and fried honey banana, offer dinner at the cabin, which was very comfy after a long day and they have beer too. Dinner was delicious!

NetherlandsLot of flies. We planned to stay here so we could do the sunrise hike to mount Batur. We have been told that we needed a guide (rules of the gouvernement). No proof of that's true. As experienced hikers we felt cheated as we wanted to hike by ourselves. Friendly advice from the owner though.
Nice bungalow! Great area at the start of mount Batur.

AustraliaToo many flies around. We had a big grey mouse in Bungalow 1. It was a little bit uncomfortable to see it every night running on a floor and making noise. We left the lights on all nights. Also noise from the road from 2 a.m. , but earplugs helped).
Very safe place to be. Great location and a nice pool. Good Internet. Close to Mt Batur. Nice friendly staff. Good nature around. The owner is a good man who always helps you with any enquiries. You can find local warungs around with great cheap Balinese food. Beautiful place to be with lovely people.

New ZealandThere was a lot of noise late at night (bikes going past, dogs barking, fireworks set off) and the fan in my room was very noisy too so I struggled to get to sleep. There were very noisy people having a conversation outside at around 4am.
The property was very private and it had all amenities (pool, loungers, fire pit, music area, various seating areas etc). It felt very private. The staff were very friendly and helped us with our bags, gave a welcome drink and the fried banana was lovely!
