How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Too much smoking with friends of staff make upper patio non smoking. Aso cut top of bathroom door so it opens fully.

Pleasant services by the staff are given during my stay in this communal site where i met various tourist preferences from all over the world as one story that i can't ever forget. Really enjoyed to stay here, much home appliance are applicable therefore i could save my savings to do more activities in Yogyakarta. The staff always clean every spot and corner of this hotel so that i felt comfortable to stay here. If i had more time i would make my stay longer. Thank you Gorga Hostel!

Located on a quiet street in a busy neighborhood, it was a good base to explore around. Scooter rental at the hostel was very convenient. Also able to get a cheap SIM delivered, rather than buying one at the airport.

The cheapest or one of the cheapest hostels in Yogyakarta and for that value you get a lot. Stuff is super nice, rooms are good, bed comfortable and with curtains and lights, lockers and refill water. Absolutely recommended.

our room had a private bathroom to use but I think it was being used by others because it was in the main area. not a deal breaker though.
very hospitable. the private room had great airconditioning. it was quiet and near the restaurants and bars. we would come back! many options for activities and sim card available.

The water pressure in the shower was poor and the bed curtain was ripping up. Nothing major though
Had a lovely stay! The staff were super friendly and there was a kitchen. Free water fill up too :) Would happily stay here again! Was quite clean!

The water pressure in the showers was terrible
Comfy enough mattresses in the shared dorms. Great for seasoned travelers. Nice kitchen, fridge, and water cooler provided.

Upper bed sheets are small. Toilet and showers outside so you can get wet going there when it is raining. A bit far from the center of the city.
The people there were really nice and helpful. Large rooms. Fully equipped kitchen (the best i saw in Indonesia) and large common rooms (great for meeting people and sharing a meal). Comfortable beds. Lovely place 😃

AC for girls room was better, AC for men/mixed room was poor or low.
Cheap price, quiet area, close to happening street. had a kitchen also

In my opinion I always like to sleep with two pillows, they only had one pillow per person. It isn't a big deal, I just would prefer to have two pillows to sleep with.
It was a nice place, a bit social if you wanted it to be. They staff was nice and offered to help however they could. Room was a nice size and the AC worked well.

Great little hostel, run by a lovely team. They are incredibly helpful and keep the place clean and tidy. Perfect location near lovely bars and restaurants.

Lovely quiet hostel, great location 1 min walk to a street with nice restaurants / cafes / bars / shop etc. Very friendly owner made us feel at home & helped with visit to temples etc. Stayed in a private family room, was really spacious & great value for money. Communal fridge / coffee / drinking water is a nice touch

To begin with, the host is super friendly and very welcoming. We stayed in Gorga hostel for a few days and we loved it. The rooms were clean and neat and the accommodation overall looked great. The location was also perfect. I would definitely recommend staying there!

We had a very pleasant stay in the dorms. The location of the hostel is perfect! Loads of restaurants and a really nice bar nearby. The hostel also offers different trips you can attend. The staff is super welcoming and helpful and make great breakfast! Definitely recommend Gorga Hostel if you travel to Yogya

I loved everything!
The breakfast was so delicious! The owner is really great, the staff makes you feel like home! Everybody is so nice and I really enjoyed my stay. The hostel is really the top, and the prices are so good. Wish to stay longer, but I will be back here for sure!

Nice, clean and quite hostel. The price of the room is very affordable. Located in the center it's very convient to visit the city. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
