Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI had an incredible stay here! I came for 2 nights and I did 2 tours - the authentic villages tour and the waterfalls and rice paddies tour. They were both led by lovely young men who are members of the family and spoke wonderful English. They were the least touristy tours I have taken in indonesia - in most of the places we were the only people. I never felt like I was being scammed or ripped off just like I was being shown around someone's real life. I ate there both nights and all the food was delicious (papaya curry was a highlight). Accomodation is simple and the beds were clean as I expected from the photos and price.

We had such a wonderful stay with this welcoming family! The accommodation is basic but more than good enough. The food was amongst the best we had in Indonesia. Would definitely recommend staying here!

GermanyI had a truly wonderful stay at this Homestay! The family who runs the place were very kind and attentive, always making sure I felt welcome and cared for. They prepared delicious meals that were amazing :) I felt incredibly comfortable throughout my entire visit, and I would definitely come back again. However, I would like to note for first-time visitors to Indonesia that it’s good to be aware that insects and geckos may occasionally find their way into the rooms and due to the iron roof it can be very loud when it rains. Overall, my experience was fantastic, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a authentic and inviting stay!

I arrived early in the morning and was welcomed very friendly with breakfast. Luckily I was able to get into my room also it wasn't the check in time. The room was simple without ac, only a fan. The bed was comfortable, the room big enough and the bathroom clean.

SwitzerlandThe accomodation is close to the rice fields. If you opt for a rice field trekking, you can start in front of the door. They also offer other activities at and around the place. You get breakfast in the morning and free tea throughout the day. The staff are really friendly and helpful. One of the staff member took me to the next homestay, when I had to move because it was fully booked. The common area is cosy and you can get to know other travellers. I enjoyed my stay:)

United KingdomOffers free water refills but wouldn’t be replaced straight away so would need to buy from the shop. We didn’t know whether it was to do with a supply issue. Call to prayer is from 5am and there is a mosque very close to the home stay. This wasn’t a problem for us but I would recommend bringing earplugs if you like to sleep in.
If you want an authentic experience with warm and welcoming family then this is the place for you. We booked 4 nights and initially thought it would be too long but it worked out perfectly. There are plenty of activities to do that are arranged by the family. We did a tour of the rice fields and rice terraces, coconut oil making and coffee roasting, village tour (bamboo weaving, pottery and sarong weaving - which you can get involved with) and a cooking class. The family could not do enough for us during our stay, especially Aldi! He took us to a sunrise and a beautiful view point of mount Rinjani at 5.30am. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone!

SpainOur room was quite small and basic. The mosquito net on the bed had some holes and the WiFi didn't work well during our stay but since it was a 3 days stay, these little things did not bother us. Also, just like many other places in Indonesia, there is no hot water in the shower. But that is not a problem since the temperature is quite warm and mild all year round.
We travelled as a couple in the beginning of July and had a fantastic time at this homestay. When we first planned our holidays in Indonesia, and in Lombok, we were not really thinking of visiting the innerland of the island in order to prioritize other parts of Indonesia, but we are so glad we changed our minds and decided to book a 3 nights stay at Kambang Kunning Cottages, near Tetebatu. Our hosts were very welcoming and very easy going. Especially Izy, who spoke very well english and was very attentive to everyone's needs. The homestay is located in a pretty and small village and the surroundings are beautiful. It is run by a lovely and quite large family. We got to know pretty much all the family members and they are all very friendly and welcoming. There are also a few cats, and some chickens wandering around the property, and a Mosque quiet close by, which immerses you in a very local atmosphere and adds up to the local experience. The homestay has several rooms and a common dining area where you are able to chat with other fellow travellers or the owners and enjoy a a very tasty meal. Breakfast is included in the price of the accomodation, coffee and tea are free throughout the day, and you can also refill your bottle of water for free. Seriously, the food was so delicious and reasonably priced that we had there all of our meals. And portions were great too! They also offer different activities at a great price. We booked a soft trekking to see the rice fields, 2 waterfalls and the Black Monkey Forest. And we also booked their cooking class which they customised a bit for us since we are a vegan couple. We had a fab time during both activities. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend this fabulous place to anyone who is looking to go a bit off the beaten track of Lombok and explore the innerland while experiencing authenticity and meeting very welcoming people.

GermanyMy stay at the Kembang Kuning Cottages was a really lovely, very authentic experience. I couldn't have imagined better hosts than Vandini and her family. They were so friendly and helpful at all times and Vandini in particular made me feel at home right from the start. The breakfast was good and could be taken at any time of the day. The restaurant was also great, I had a few really good and relatively cheap dinners there. There are numerous tours that you can book directly on site to explore the beautiful surroundings. It is also possible to hire scooters.
