Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandStayed one night on transit and liked the place so much I went back on my return journey. Rooms were clean, beds were very comfortable and facilities were good and worked with no issues. Staff were very friendly, and location is exceptionally good, particularly if traveling via train from Tawang. Breakfast was possibly the best hotel breakfast I've ever seen, with two a la carte options and a side buffet.

AustraliaThe double room was fine for one night but was quite small. For a longer stay, I’d book one of the larger rooms.
The hotel has a very youthful vibe but we felt welcome & comfortable (in our 60s!). The room we chose was quite small but comfortable & well designed. The hotel is slap-bang in the middle of the old Kota Lama area. We had a view of the Blenduk church. If I was staying more than one night, I’d opt for the larger room. The breakfast offered is very good: you can choose something from the a la carte menu (both Indonesian & Western) plus there is self serve coffee, tea, juice, fruit, cereals, toast & rice porridge. It was all really good. There are restaurants close by. We loved Maishin Isakaya & would have eaten there more than once if we’d been here longer. An early walk to the bustling street market in the Chinatown area (Kauman) is fun. The hotel is also in easy walking distance to the train station.!

IndonesiaSuggestion: mattress needs to be rotated regularly to avoid uneven dip and sag. Perhaps need firmer mattress too.

Netherlands- The sheets were washed and clean but contained some old stains. - The staff is really nice and friendly but comes across as insecure or with lack of experience.

NetherlandsThe room was damp and I could smell the sink. My room was right above a street where kids were hanging out rather loudly until at least 2 am.
The staff was so amazing and helped me with everything. They even picked me up from the train station, which was in walking distance, but I had a heavy piece of luggage and they helped me with it. There were healthy options for breakfast which I appreciated.

BrazilIt is a modern hotel with a contemporary design. Very friendly staff. They have a bar and a restaurant with good food. The a la carte poached eggs breakfast options were delicious. The room is small a bit like Ibis. But everything works well. Free mineral water in the hallway. Good wifi. Toilet and shower separate which is really good for 2 people sharing. Located right in the center of the old town near to bars and restaurants

Indonesiathey could add the breakfast selections although the ones already available were quite good. They could put a mini refrigerator in the rooms. They could do with newer towels, although the ones we were given were not that bad.
The location was close to many beautiful sites, cafes and restaurants. They had a water dispenser on the floor's corridor. the lobby was cute and Instagram able and the coffee served in the hotel's café was good.

NetherlandsWe were surprised that when we returned to the hotel at 9.30h we couldn’t get any none alcoholic drinks anymore: no tea, no coffee, no juice, no mocktails. When you’re traveling as a family sometimes you don’t want alcohol. There was a kettle in the room but only coffee, no tea. The airconditioning in our room was rather noisy, sounding a bit like a washing machine.
The Kotta Hotel is in a lovely location in Oude Stad, the part of Semarang with many beautiful buildings dating back to when Indonesia was still under Dutch colonial rule. Especially at night there is a wonderful atmosphere in this neighborhood, with quite a few good restaurants around. The main reason though for choosing this hotel was that it is very close to Semarang Tawang railway station from where the train to Jakarta leaves. We actually walked there, with suitcases, in under 10 min., though of course you could also take a Grab. The hotel is modern, hip and trendy. The rooms are clean with good airconditioning. Breakfast was a combination of a cereal, fruit, juice and tea and coffee buffet and an à la carte menu with warm dishes, both Indonesian and Western. All very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. There’s an Indomart right across the street if you need some groceries.
