Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndonesiaThe room lack of dustbin and tissue just that!
The room was clean and spacious. I loved so much the rice fields around the guest house. It was soothing to the eyes.. For a nature lover like me its like heaven on earth. Sunset there was gorgeous. The birds chirping, the sound of crickets and fogs at night made the day so amazing. I could see also the sky and moon when bathing at night. Wonderful experience! The owner were very polite, attentive and helpful. Sindy cooked very delicous food, and the price was affordable. I wish to come back again!

NetherlandsBeautiful small scale guest house, made perfect by our hosts Ari and Sindi, who run this guest house with a little help of their lovely kids. The 3 rooms, soon to be 5, are the perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of Bali. Quiet in the middle of the rice fields, but only 15-30 minutes away from Ubud, Sanur and Sidemen, this is a great basecamp for your visit to Bali. The room is quite big, has a good musquito net and a good working airconditioning. The private half open bathroom is functional and regularly cleaned. The wifi worked great, stable and fast. We had dinner and breakfast from their small kitchen and the food was wonderfully prepared and served with a big smile. Ari gave great advice on things to do every day, which was nice too. We fully recommend to go to this guest house!

Kubu Bakas Guest House is an absolute treasure! The traditional lumbung bungalows are incredibly comfortable, blending rustic charm with all the modern comforts you could need. The property is surrounded by stunning rice paddies, and you can even catch a glimpse of the ocean in the distance – it’s like stepping into a postcard! Ari and Sindi, the young couple who own the guest house, are the heart and soul of this place. They are so kind and helpful, going above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. Ari recommended some incredible local waterfalls, and they were truly breathtaking. The breakfasts here are delicious, made with love, and the perfect way to start your day of exploring. This is Bali at its best – authentic, serene, and beautiful. If you’re looking to experience the real Bali away from the hustle and bustle, Kubu Bakas Guest House is the place to be. I can’t recommend it enough – I’ll definitely be back!

This is the perfect getaway! It is so quiet and peaceful amongst the rice paddies in a lovely rural area. The host family is awesome! Ari and Sindi were so welcoming and went above and beyond what we expected. They went on an evening walk with me, pointing out the plants and crops. The following day, we were invited to attend a Hindu temple ceremony with Ari and his family. What an amazing opportunity this was for us. Ari organised hire bikes for us. The bungalows are beautiful, clean, large with lovely decor. The semi open bathroom was clean. The view is straight out to the rice paddies where you can see the farmers at work. The meals were delicious and fresh and well priced. The fresh juices were the best we have had so far! Sindi introduced me to soursop juice, which was delicious. Special mention to Riski, who always had a big smile!

RomaniaWe loved everything about this place
We loved this accommodation. The owners, Ari and Sindi are amazing hosts. They showed us the surrounding area by one hour lovely walk through the forest, where they explained the nature and Balinese customs. They rented us a scooter for two days and helped us choose the best attractions. They also helped with booking a sunrise jeep trip on mount Batur, when Ari was the one driving us to the base camp and back, also showing around the area. On our last day, Ari's brother, Wade took us to the airport but one the way there we stopped at different attractions that we did not know about. They are amazing people, honest and really deserving, two young people just trying to make a living by showing what is most precious to them. They are doing so by not trying to rip people off, honest prices and very good services. They also run a warung at the accommodation with very good food, very fresh and at fair prices. The place is clean and the view of the rice field is amazing. You are surrounded by nature but with good access to the surrounding villages. The star gazing experience is wonderful also.

Wauw, so amazing, so lovely, so friendly. Such a beautiful place to stay, in the middle of nature. Surrounded by ricefields, marigold, lemongrass, chili and so much more. Living with the locals. Ari and everyone there made me feel so welcome, they are so helpful. Ari took me on a 1,5 hour walk through the fields and gave me so much information about everything, what a nice experience. The best local food. Most friendly staff. So peaceful! Big, nice and beautiful wooden house. 🤍 Matur Suksma!

NetherlandsAfter staying in Ubud for some days and having had a scooter crash, we decided we would like to get away from the noise of the city and experience a more authentic balinese stay in a calm environment. When booking Kubu Bakas we were hoping to achieve this, but our expectations were more than met. Our host was Ari, he came and picked us up from the centre of Ubud and drove us to Kubu Bakas. A little paradise, at the brink of a local town, which was built by Ari and his family. After hearing about our scooter crash, Ari made sure we were well looked after, we received fresh Aloë Vera from his personal garden to calm the abrasion we got. He took us to have a walk around the village and through some of the rice fields where the farmers were working. We were lucky enough that one of the farmers climbed a tree for some fresh young coconuts that we could enjoy. The day after we went on a daytour with Ari, he showed us waterfalls, temples and took us a coffee and tea tasting. All wich was discussed upfront based on what we would like to do/see. All three nights we were able to enjoy the food from their own Warong. When it was time to leave he also drove us to the next stay and made sure we were welcomed properly. The accommodations are great and well looked after, it is a peaceful place to enjoy authentic end genuine hospitality with beautiful surroundings and a great team that supports Kuba Bakas. Would recommend this to everyone and we'll definitely be back!

Wauw! What an amazing experience i had in Kubu Bakas. It’s a family business and therefore i would like to thank Ari, Cindy, Nino and Fiona for the warm welcome. I got to join a womansceremony, and they borrowed me a set of traditional Balineze clothing😍🙏🏻. I also did a daytour to Sidemen with Ari. Sidemen is really beautiful and we had a lot of fun! I also wanted to say that Kubu Bakas has a very special location, with a beautiful view of farmfeelds. For everyone who is traveling in Bali: go to Kubu Bakas! ☀️

The property location is very remote and in the heart of the Bali countryside. It was a magical stay and a real chance to unwind and relax around the beautiful nature. The food and open kitchen meant we ate very well. A special mention to the owner who went out of his way to make sure we were looked after and knew about all the local spots… especially the wonderful waterfalls! Thank you and see you next time!

I had the nicest stay at Kubu Basa and I am so happy I chose to stay her for three nights. Its a nice quiet place to stay and experience village life. Also a great place for stargazing, especially with the campfire that was made for the guests the first night I stayed. The bugalow was very comfortable, clean and cozy. The food was great as well. I also went on two full day tours with Ari ( the owner) and it was the best time in Bali. Not only did Ari show the most beautiful places, but he is also so kind and helpfull and shared a lot of information about Balinese culture. I had so much fun and felt very safe and taken care off. Ari went above an beyond to make a great trip and helped create some great photo memories too. Thank you Ari!

ItalyEverything was great as expected. FYI, be aware this place is like a farm, so you might hear cock singing in the morning. Also you might consider hiring a motorbike to visit the surroundings because the place is isolated.
Heavenly location away from the main tourist routes. Good starting point for exploring more genuine parts of the island. Many waterfalls and rice fields are not far from here.

BelgiumDuring our trip around Bali, our stay at Kubu Bakas was the most memorable. This was mainly due to the exceptional hospitality of Ari, the host. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly and friendly welcomed. Ari gave us numerous tips to discover the real Bali in all its beauty. Thanks to his recommendations, we were able to experience the warm people, rich culture, and beautiful nature of the island in a unique way. Kubu Bakas is the perfect base for beautiful excursions, and Ari is always ready to go along as a guide. His knowledge of the island and his passion for Balinese culture made our excursions unforgettable. Additionally, at Kubu Bakas, you can rent a scooter, allowing you to explore the surroundings on your own. This gave us the freedom to discover Bali's hidden gems at our own pace. If we are lucky enough to return to Bali, we will undoubtedly choose to stay at Kubu Bakas again. It feels like a home, and that's all thanks to Ari's amazing hospitality.

SingaporeIf you are a light and late sleeper you might face some discomforts cause of the sounds of nature and of the farm in the morning and on weekends. For most people however the noise is minimal and not an issue at all
This is the most gorgeous and comfortable rural resort I've ever experienced!!! The air con and hot showers work brilliantly, the room is rustic yet super comfortable, and the farm right at the doorstep is gorgeous. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and filling as well. Best of all, the staff are super nice and lent me a scooter for Rp. 100k a day, which was perfect for exploring rural east Bali. This is the best base to explore Semarapura and Sideman for the classical Balinese Kamasan painting and Endek cloth. It's only 15 min away by bike, yet the price is super reasonable. Best of all, this money goes directly to a local Balinese family and not property developers in Jakarta or Australia. This place is the closest thing most people will experience to life in a real and lived Balinese village.

SerbiaDo have in mind the location, being surrounded by nature there's a lot of geckos around, and sounds of frogs, dogs and other animals at night
Kubu Bakas is a lovely family run accomodation. We were treated in high regard by Ari and his family. This is what we came to except from Bali but in this case it really felt genuine, not forced and not overbearing in any way. The family cooking was also excellent, we've had breakfast, lunch and great juices! Ari provided us with info we needed and was pleasant to talk to and share about Balinese culture. The room is cosy and has a great view for fans of nature, looking over the fields, southwards.
