Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt didn't bother us at all, but from our room we could sometimes hear frogs in the evening, and chickens in the morning. A light sleeper might mind (but the rooms on the opposite side of the path, where the bungalows are located, might not be within hearing distance of the chickens).
I rarely write feedback on hotels, but we had such a pleasant stay at the Peneeda Hotel that I am making an exception. It felt genuinely Balinese, lived-in and welcoming. It fit perfectly our main criteria, which were proximity to the beach, convenience, and character. *Location*: it's ideal. The airy restaurant/bar is open on one side towards one of the pools, and on the other side towards the promenade and beach. You can be sitting over breakfast in the gentle sea breeze, while watching a neighbour place a morning offering on the beach. The hotel is quiet and secluded, yet just a short walk away from the main street, a large supermarket and a good bookshop, as well as all the restaurants on the beach. *Convenience*: we had one of the family rooms, which was really two interconnecting rooms (and a bathroom) with a private entrance and a little patio area with a table and seats. It was a very good layout for a stay with young children (we had them sleep in the room at the back). We enjoyed the large bathroom with a indoor bath and an outdoor rain shower. *Character*: there is a lovely and peaceful atmosphere, and as a business run by a local family, it had in our view much more charm (while being much cheaper!) than the many impersonal 5* resorts along the beach. At the Peneeda, the large communal areas are furnished with taste, and include pieces of genuine traditional furniture of sculpted wood, like the two beautiful antique beds that have been converted into reading nooks. Our room was very nice and comfortable too, with wooden floors and furniture in the local style. Good beds, meticulous room-service. All the staff were very kind, full of little attentions towards to our children especially. We felt we had found exactly the hotel we were hoping for.

AustraliaBathrooms are tired (but are clean) Breakfast menu is a little small.
Great beachside location, beautiful traditional Balinese gardens and villas. Pools were all lovely and clean. Shared kitchen areas are a real difference if you’re wanting to prepare meals or use as a communal space.

AustraliaLimited menu at the restaurant, however lots of good food options close by.
I loved the beautiful tree lined pathway winding through the rooms to the beach. Rooms were cleaned very well regularly. The restaurant makes pretty good coffees. The hot/cold water dispenser in the room is very handy, providing a constant supply of drinking water. Friendly staff.

AustraliaSome parts of the hotel are a little older and need an upgrade. This did not detract from our stay as the gardens are very established.
The bungalow was very roomy and clean. All the key amenities; air conditioner, bathroom/ shower, television and lighting where top rate. The bed and pillows very comfortable. The large filtered water bottle was most appreciated.

Fantastic location, facilities and staff. Lovely and quiet. Right on the beach. Room cleaning was great. Support for getting a driver to take on trip was perfect. We would recommend Agung who’s car was in good condition and drove with safety in mind. It was value for money.

GermanyOur room was right at the back of the property which meant a 5 minute walk to the beach. The upside of that was that we were close to the road for shopping, massages etc. The communal areas i.e. pools etc are showing some age, but we found that charming
Lovely gardens and pools. Very clean and comfortable room, which looked newly renovated. Excellent bed and shower. No road noise. Great value for money.

AustraliaI have found sitting on our terrace or balcony a fan would be an improvement, also no soft drinks or beers or so in the fridge
I stayed here almost 23 years ago and clearly since covid it has changed a lot ,for example minimal staff and dinner no longer available at the restaurant. However ,what was available at breakfast was fine and the coffee making young man was excellent. Also the young man Ari who cleaned our room every day was lovely too ,. Our room was actually a cottage on its own in a small courtyard- so very private-pretty much all like that ,but they do have a few villas too We liked the location ,right on the beach ,but close to shops etc and only $3 taxi ride to new shopping mall -ICON - which is a huge bonus for Sanur . We spent a lot of time at the next door warung which is like a basic hut ,but the staff / family there were lovely too and meals were excellent/no Bali belly at all - that also did laundry by the kilo $6 - ready by 5 pm the ladies with the shops can be pushy at first but once you get to know them they are helpful and friendly- Norma and Anna - they will source anything if they can within reason . The sea there is wonderful and clear ,calm no surfers here but I loved it ,sand underfoot and no rubbish .there are pools at the resort but we just preferred swimming in the sea Sanur is a preferred destination if your not looking for crazy nightlife ,but still plenty of beach or street bars with live music .great for couples or families just looking to chill
