Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe loved our stay here it has been one of our favourite stops in Bali and we extended twice. The rooms are spacious and clean, the owners and staff are super helpful, we booked a rice paddies walk and taxis through them which was v easy, but the best thing for us was the setting- as it looks out over the rice paddies and with a view of Mount Agung - and it’s so peaceful watching all the little animals and birds in the morning and evening. You do share a terrace with another room, but they are huge terraces and for most of our stay we had it to ourself as quiet season. Worth noting that the breakfast is quite basic, however for the price point it’s enough and there are many places nearby if you want to roam. In fact it’s a great location right between the tourist part of Sidemen and the more local side so you can easily explore both.

Singaporethe roads to the accommodation can a little windy but of course if you drive slowly and look at the path ahead, you should be fine
special thanks to the friendly and lovely hosts we met - Gede, the dad, and uncle - during our 2 night stay. we booked 2 rooms side by side that opened into lush greenery and mount agung in the distance. rooms were big (great affect on wellbeing, surprisingly). very clean, no dust even on the ceiling fan and on the floor under the bed (something fell under the bed so i had a look). comfy bed. great sleep. breakfast is served around 8-9am and brought to your terrace. imagine sipping on coffee with a magnificent view in front of you. warm water may run out if you take long showers. soap, shampoo provided. no issues with wifi. aircon works in case it gets warm in the day. but with the chilly weather at night there was no need for aircon. hairdryer available. if you want to hire driver to bring you up to Besakih, you can ask Gede (host) who speaks both indo and english. he will bring there and wait for 1.5h until you are done. he brought us to a restaurant for lunch after - it had an amazing view of rice terraces! and then we swung by a mini mart for magnum ice cream afterwards as the day grew warmer. for dinner, i’d highly recommend Warung Ibu Ida which is 5 minutes walk away. managed by a lovely grandma who makes amazing home cooked dishes. amongst others, get the curry chicken (comes with rice), and u must try her pisang goreng for dessert.

Great location amongst picturesque rice fields and Mt Agung clearly visible in front of our accommodation (on a clear day). The staff were friendly and smiling. Breakfast on the front terrace of our villa in the mornings was lovely. Close to lots of Warungs, coffee shops and little grocery shops, yet very quiet, peaceful and secluded. The bedroom is very spacious and the bathroom is a good size. A/C very effective for a cool night’s sleep. Room serviced everyday.

United KingdomNothing, all good.
The property was lovely, in the heart of the village with restaurants all around. You wake up, walk onto your terrace and there is a rice field on your doorstep. Also in the distance is Mt Agung which is a wonderful sight on a clear day. The room is excellent, large, spacious and clean. The bathroom is lovely. Breakfast was included so set me up for the day. Tea and coffee, fridge I. The room. The staff are lovely, they organised a scooter for the day and a taxi for my next destination. Brilliant.

United KingdomWe absolutely loved our stay here and it’s even more beautiful than the photos! The room was really spacious, clean and comfortable and the WiFi was super fast. The location is perfect - it’s really peaceful while still being a short walk from a lot of warungs and nice restaurants. The staff were lovely and cleaned our room every single day. The breakfast was also delicious with a very good choice of different breakfast dishes. We can’t wait to come back here again!

United KingdomUnbelievable accommodation in a stunning location in Sideman! I can not fault it here and wished we had longer! The room has a terrace overlooking rice fields with the volcano in the background. The room itself is incredibly spacious, exceptionally clean and has everything you need including a jug of drinking water, AC, ceiling fan. Breakfast was brought to our terrace each morning and the hosts were very helpful in offering to help advise/book silver classes, cooking classes and taxis. They also have scooter rental on site.

South AfricaWe had an amazing stay @ Babakan! Situated among beautiful rice paddies & a quiet 1-5 min stroll from many lovely restaurants, cafes & warungs...The location is wonderful & the staff super friendly & helpful!! No plunge/swimming pool, but Wapa de Ume Resort is just down the road, you can visit as a day guest & spend the afternoon lounging at their amazing pool with views over the river. Waking up among the rice paddies, watching the cows & chickens & listening to the sounds of the birds were amazing. Sidemen is still very authentic, the real Bali! A must visit!!

AustraliaWe were worried given some open areas at the top of the walls in the bathroom about mosquitoes and insects but had no issues at all. Breakfast on your balcony is a perfect touch. The juice at breakfast was delicious however the food has room for improvement. Would have loved a pool but it wasn't necessary.
We would stay again! Gede (the owner) of the Babakan was so helpful. He helped us organise our driver from Ubud to Sideman and a scooter was swiftly organised for us on our arrival. Any question we had was quickly answered and request delivered. The room was spacious and so clean and tidy. The view from the room was beautiful. It is quiet and tranquil. The location is good several areas of interest are a reasonably close drive via scooter (and I'm sure Gede would be helpful in organising another mode of transport if needed) There are warungs within walking distance for food.

NetherlandsIt would have been a 10 if there had been a mosquito net around the bed and some mosquito screens on the open bathroom windows. But overall, it was really good.
We had a wonderful stay at the Babakan accommodation. The room is clean and the owner and their family are really nice and helpful. It was easy to rent a motorbike at a good price.
