Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaHi there! This is Denise, a guest who would like to share a stunning impression I had while staying in at The Sakala Resort in Bali from 4 to 10th March. We felt the resort was just an extremely pleasant place with a whole new level of service and a genuine desire to offer the best to their guests. Vita, Gita, Tiur, Yani, Ari, Indah, and Tisha are simply WONDERFUL, and with great care, they provided splendid days for our 4-year-old daughter The kids' club is very practical and engaging. Demmy, the manager, was incredibly attentive and kind, going above and beyond to ensure a flawless vacation. EXCELLENT. A special highlight goes to the housekeeping team—Chandra, Tiur, and the dear Wanyu—who consistently surprised us with the most beautiful decorations and thoughtful touches in our impeccably cleanwell-organized room. Without a doubt, this is a place worth recommending! We’ve had the privilege of travelling to many places around the world, but we can truly say that the team at The Sakala makes us want to return soon. Simply outstanding in every way! Please make sure all the lovely people get our truly gratefulness. I also made this review on the TripAdvisor Web page. Farewell! Denise, Tommy, and Bella

AustraliaNothing to complain about but it’s a little out of the way, only $5 each way by taxi to main Nusa Dua. This meant the property was nice and peaceful.
The property is very well kept and lends itself to all travelers,

AustraliaPerhaps paying more attention to the cleanliness of the hotel room upon arrival as some areas needed to be wiped again and most surfaces (e.g, bathroom walls) were not so clean. Additionally, I wish laundry services were cheaper or at least provide washing machines that you can do yourself.
The location was great, amazing beach views. What i loved the most was how attentive and friendly the staff were. They were very polite and helpful.

AustraliaThe beach wasn’t too private. Always had someone offering the water sports service. Too many boats around, therefore not sure if water is clean enough? But pools were awesome !
A nice resort, loved our super clean room. Air con was really good. Comfy bed and pillows. But sofa bed wasn’t as good. Tiur looked after us well and remembered my name. Always asked how are we doing and any plans for the day and see if she could help us. Breakfast buffet has good varieties that change everyday. Yummy carrot cake. Went to the spa and had the balinese massage plus revitalising facial. Puspa was one of the best masseuse! The facial products suited my sensitive skin. Kitchenette and microwave was a plus for us too. Not to forget the spacious bathroom and nice toiletries. Towels were thick and felt very clean. Im a bit fussy with toilet paper, wasn’t too keen with the ones provided. Had to buy our own from the nearby supermarket. But overall we loved our stay at Sakala

AustraliaI wish the shuttle service started earlier so I could explore cafes/restaurants for breakfast outside the resort but I guess people mostly stay within their hotels so this must be the reason why it started at 10.25am from the hotel. It was also a bit of a hassle having to cross the road to get to the Sakala Beach club pool but the view from that side to the beach was worth it.
This hotel was amazing! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Demmy the Customer Service Mgr and he looked after us and took us to our 2bdrm family suite. We got to the Sakala at about 1pm and were fortunate enough to have our room ready so we were able to get settled straight away. We checked out the pool and it was fresh and inviting against the warm temperature. The swim up bar was handy and the kids loved the pool slide so we stayed around this area for an hour or so. The Sakala beach club pool (accessible by crossing the road) was also great and similarly had a swim up pool bar with a variety of food and drink options. The gym facilities were located over 3 floors overlooking the pool and it was complete with all of the essentials as well as some newer equipment. We didn't have breakfast included in our stay but we did try it on our last day and I must say it had a great selection of international and local dishes. The service team at Sakala is the highlight. Demmy leads a team of staff who are very attentive and super friendly. They had great attention to detail and really cared about our experience at their hotel. Our bedroom was decorated with flower petals and a towel arrangement on our anniversary and we were greeted warmly by staff on our special day.

AustraliaI know it's difficult when it's rainy season and when the plumbing in Bali isn't great but the smell in the rooms and bathrooms around the hotel wasn't pleasant and there were plug in air fresheners but they made it worse in some ways. Maybe if some sort of fresh smelling essential oils were used when cleaning or even using a dehumidifier in some areas to reduce the moisture. Nothing smelled hygienically clean and I didn't see any sort of antibacterial cleaners being used. The location of the hotel means that if you want to walk anywhere you're going to have to walk along the narrow pavements that are very uneven and next to a busy road. This hotel isn't in the main part of Nusa Dua where all the high end resorts are.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great, with an absolutely huge selection. The beach club area had a great atmosphere, comfy loungers round the pool, swim up bar.

TurkeyThe spa jets in the main pool were not working which was a disappointment, we also felt it would have been great to have a games room on the premises.
We had a fabulous week stay, the facilities are great, we had the deluxe suite that opened up to the pool which was very nice to have a dip when we wanted to without leaving our room. The continental breakfast was delicious every morning. My teenage boys enjoyed the gym.

United KingdomThe beach access (free shuttle from hotel) was about 10-15 mins away and a very small area due to the beach directly at the hotel not being able to be used due to the volume of activity at this location - don’t want this to sound like a negative as it was in a really nice location and the beach at Samuh was really nice it is just a fact that the accessible beach if you want to go into the water is only accessible by shuttle bus as too far away to walk to.

Australia1. The room was quite large but could have been cleaner and better maintained. The fridge didn't work well. The TV had limited working channels, and no streaming capability. The bed was a bit clapped out, and the toilet base wobbled. The aircon was about average. 2. The room wifi was poor and kept disconnecting. For solid wifi I had to go up to the reception or pool side areas. 3. My wife went for a massage, but didn't rate the masseuse at all. 4. There's limited places to walk to nearby. There's a few minimarts, but not a lot else. The path is a little treacherous and there's plenty of traffic to negotiate.
We really enjoyed our stay, but there's room for improvement. There are 2 pools. The very long main pool is adjacent to the main hotel, and has two swim-up bars, some waterfalls, and plenty of sun lounges with good shade. There are several cabanas in the water, but none of the water jets were working. Drinks and food are reasonably priced, and good quality. On the beach side (across the road) is the smaller Sakala Club pool, with one swim up bar, and much less shade, which was popular with those seeking a tan. There's a restaurant adjacent to that pool as well. Nearby is a beach bar and additional sun lounges, where you can lie and watch people enjoying watersports. Each night there's a themed dinner option, typically with some live music and performances, either at the beach or in the restaurant. The value was ok. There's a decent Japanese restaurant nearby, which offers a discount to hotel guests. Overall, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and this enhanced our stay. The gym is spread over 3 floors, and had fairly good equipment, and clean towels. On one occasion the filtered water supply ran out, but it was rectified the next day. With the breakfast, there's Indonesian and International sections, plus a bread station. We found the Indonesian section to be much better. If you ask, the staff will make you a soy "cappuccino" (actually a flat white), or an iced coffee. There's a bus that goes to Bali Collection, however it stops it many other hotels along the way. We found it was much easier to use the Grab (Uber) app to get there for about $4-6 AUD.
